Tinc not Time. Bloody autocorrect.

singadream · 03/10/2017 16:35

anyone got any Gap codes?

LittleMousewithcloggson · 03/10/2017 16:38

I was disappointed with the Smiggle one last year so have just bought the Tinc one. Fingers crossed it's better

Whoever was looking for ideas for very small advent calendar gifts, we used a couple of boxes to start a treasure hunt. Put the first clue in which led to 5 or 6 other clues which led to the gift that wouldn't fit in the box!

SockEatingMonster · 03/10/2017 16:46

@WhyamIBoredathome a family member bought us a wooden advent calendar with tiny drawers. I have given up on ours now, but here are some things that might work for your 4 year old...

  • Split packs of Story Cubes, this works best if you already have at least 1 pack in the house. Pack of 9 for £8.10 plus there are numerous 3-packs for £3.99 on the same link
  • Pencil toppers. Smiggle do scented ones that come complete with pencil and are often in the buy 5 for £5 promotion. Obviously you'd have to remove the pencil first!
  • I put in a 10-sided dice once, which went down well
  • Semi-precious polished stones. I paid a couple of pounds for a set of 'chakra stones' on ebay. They list the size (from about 10mm) so you can be reasonably sure they'll fit.
SockEatingMonster · 03/10/2017 16:59

Almost forgot my top advent calendar tip!

Both Lego and Playmobil have a replacement parts service. You can search by set and then add individual items to your basket and buy them as usual. Postage is really low for small orders. For example, the Playmobil cat from this set is 50p, the sword from here is 20p, etc.

Playmobil will also sell items from discontinued sets if you fill in their online form with the part numbers. You can search for parts (e.g. "spinning wheel") here

dizzygirl1 · 03/10/2017 17:08

I went on the works this morning and the PLAY25 code worked, I didn't get chance to checkout as I was running late for work. Gone back on this afternoon and it's not working 😭😭😭😭 I'm looking at doing an art supplies hamper for dd10 so all bargains are required! 😆

christmasunicorn · 03/10/2017 17:41

Does anyone know what free magazine subscription gifts there are at the mo. I clearly missed the good housekeeping and Emma Bridgewater one and cannot see any advertised on the Hearst website.

mammyaroundmadness · 03/10/2017 17:52

My niece who will be 18months at Xmas loves my kids Playmobil. So was thinking of getting her some Playmobil 123 can anyone recommend which sets are good and any deals many thanks

PiePieChickenPie · 03/10/2017 18:19

Thanks for the Saltrock link MyDrainpipe hoodie on the way for dh, much appreciated.

On the look out for grossery gang bargains if anyone spots anything, thanks!

IceCreamIceCream · 03/10/2017 18:20

mammy the 123 ark is my go to gift for that age group and everyone loves it. Don’t buy it for more than £15 though as it is frequently on offer at that price in multiple places.

Llamacorn · 03/10/2017 18:23

Does anyone use UNiDAYS? Honestly if you know a student, it's amazing. My brothers gives me his log in details luckily but you could also get a friend to just email you the online codes. They regularly have money off discounts for top retailers and they do extra discounts for limited times too. I saved £50 with a 20% off topshop code for dd at the weekend, they have 20% off feel unique and new look just now too (and love honey!) I honestly rarely shop online without checking there first, its fab.

Thank you to pp who mentioned miraculous dolls at amazon, just bought some £7.30 ish thanks.

@singadream I had a gap code that ended yesterday! Typical, they always send me them so when I get one next I'll let you know.

SideOrderofSprouts · 03/10/2017 18:24

Eldest is now circling things in the boots catalogue

MyDrainPipe · 03/10/2017 18:42

No problem PiepieChickenPie when they have sales on they are fab, but stuff goes down in price and dissapears the same day, often before I've got to checkout from my basket!

Snooky17 · 03/10/2017 19:17

@piepieChickenpie Lots of grossery stuff in Home Bargsins today, not entirely sure what sorry was with a small one and trying to avoid the toys

Badders08 · 03/10/2017 19:21

I was struggling for advent calendar for my ds2 (9)
He won't eat cheap chocolate like his mother and isnt into Lego
So I got a Santa from Lakeland for £7 -.its like a pass the parcel and you unwrap a layer a day.
Im pretty much done for main gifts - just stocking gifts to do now...

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 03/10/2017 19:25

jangle I have a lenovo notebook I bought for coursework. Was around £150 and you can take the screen off so it's a tablet too. It's a fast little laptop and does everything I need it to would be a perfect starter laptop. I got it from very so took advantage of their introductory offers so discounted further and paid interest free over 6 months 😀

For little advent presents we have done moshi monsters, shopkins, yo kai watch discs, finger puppets, lego people. This year am doing vintage kinder egg figures u bought as a bundle off eBay :)

Ness1234 · 03/10/2017 19:44

I have a Cornerstone Razor code, it will give you £10 off and £10 off for me. It's https:www.cornerstone.co.uk/7jac0873
I bought one for my son last year, and it went down well.

FoofFighter · 03/10/2017 19:48

Ooh thanks for reminder about unidays I'm a member, if anyone needs a code for anything drop me a PM. Although I just attempted a Cath Kidston code from there and it doesn't even register it seems, it's not even saying no code invalid, it's just staying empty :/

buckeejit · 03/10/2017 19:58

Don't suppose anyone knows if they ever do audible subscription discounts through amazon? I've had the annual 24 book membership this year & it's been ace-got loads of the daily deals too but not sure if I should repurchase & a discount would seal the deal!

Also for magazines if people aren't bothered about a hard copy, it's worth checking put the readly app-expensive but tons of magazines & can be used over about 5 devices so split with lots of people. I've got 2 months for the price of one trying it at the mo, (however I do keep forgetting about it!)

chicaguapa · 03/10/2017 20:12

Superdry have an eBay outlet. Some bags are listed individually at £23.99 but if you look carefully at the bag listings which have more than one bag on you can find the same bag for £15.99.

Chocolateteabag · 03/10/2017 20:20

Couple of things I've spotted in M&MDirect (10% topcashback too!)

Hunter Sage green Umbrella £20 down from £50. Might be a good DF/FIL present?

Are Eastpak Rucksacks "cool" at all? As they have lots of different ones all with more than 50% off

Grytviken · 03/10/2017 20:26

My friend's child has asked for wrestling figures for Christmas, the cheapest I can find are the WWE ones for £11.50 on Amazon, at first I thought it was that price for a pack of 10, but it is just for one! Anybody seen them cheaper elsewhere? Thank you!

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 03/10/2017 20:27

cailingaelach i ordered a fingerling from Amazon this morning for £9.50 inc p&p. It is coming from China even though it said it is from a UK seller. Got to wait a month now to see what its like.

Strawberryfield12 · 03/10/2017 20:27

Havent looked into pros and cons of the offer, but from the first glimpse looks tempting, so sharing it.
