Thinking of getting mine at Sainsbury's or Tesco's on Fri and putting in Freezer. Just think if I leave it until Xmas Eve there will be nowt left

Ours is coming from Ocado on the 23rd. DB once got a massive Kelly Bronze from M&S on Christmas eve for £10. I'd be sorely tempted if I could face the crowds.

Ankleswingers · 17/12/2016 17:08

Ordered ours from M and S. Pick it up the 23rd.

pinkieandperkie · 17/12/2016 17:10

If you are getting it friday there will be no point in freezing it if you are cooking it Sunday. Those fuckers take ages to defrost.

SheSparkles · 17/12/2016 17:10

Never! We have gammon and beef filler 😉

SheSparkles · 17/12/2016 17:10

Beef fillet not filler!

PoochiePoo · 17/12/2016 17:13

We got ours last week to make sure we have one! It's currently in our garage freezer.

CremeBrulee · 17/12/2016 17:25

Tell me you aren't paying out for a fresh Turkey and then putting it in the freezer??

That's bonkers. You may as well save your money and buy a frozen one to begin with!

DollyPlastic · 17/12/2016 17:27

Christmas eve, half price hopefully.

We like to live life of the edge.

blueskyinmarch · 17/12/2016 17:30

We pick up our Kelly Bronze from the farm on the 23rd.

ColdAsIceCubes · 17/12/2016 17:33

We're hoping we can get a small turkey crown on the 22nd? We have our beef (which me dh and 1 of the dc prefer) and need a small turkey crown for the smaller dc. If that fails we'll try to source a small chicken.

Pinkheart5915 · 17/12/2016 17:36

We are picking our turkey up from the butchers on Christmas Eve

insancerre · 17/12/2016 17:39

Collecting from Booths on Christmas Eve

PossumInAPearTree · 17/12/2016 17:40

Already got it and put it in the freezer.

Sparlklesilverglitter · 17/12/2016 17:40

Are you buying a frozen one OP? If so buy it any time you like provided you have the freezer space

If your buying fresh, no earlier than the 23rd.

It's a waste IMO to buy fresh and then freeze it.

We are at mil this year and I believe she is picking up from the butchers on the 23rd

Dionysuss · 17/12/2016 18:06

MiL is in charge of getting the turkey. Her plan is to go late Christmas Eve and get one as they get reduced like she did last year.

I'm not at all happy with her risky strategy.

Empress13 · 17/12/2016 18:33

You have a point ! Was thinking buying frozen on Fri but worried about gnawing in fridge until Sun? So was just going to stick back in freezer? No?

Mine is being delivered Christmas eve by a good friend with a small holding! I'm very excited by my poncetastic turkey!!

Randytortoise · 17/12/2016 19:06

We have a frozen one in our shopping order for the 23rd and won't be putting it I the freezer as it will take ages to thaw.

NotCitrus · 17/12/2016 19:42

Collecting a rolled roast on the 23rd. May have to use the car as an extra fridge.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/12/2016 20:12

A frozen turke y can easily take 48 hours to defrost properly, so do allow enough time!

A fresh one bought on the Friday will be fine if kept cool. I have often bought a fresh one on the 23rd. It goes in a cold box outside, with a a few ice packs.

SparkleMotions · 17/12/2016 20:13

Got ours yesterday, it's now in the freezer ready for the big day!

GoofyTheHero · 17/12/2016 20:15

Never, don't like the things. We're having venison Wellington Grin
