When are you getting your turkey?

Thinking of getting mine at Sainsbury's or Tesco's on Fri and putting in Freezer. Just think if I leave it until Xmas Eve there will be nowt left

We used to pay extra for a fresh one but last year we bought frozen and no one could tell the difference.

Buy frozen in plenty of time, or buy fresh and order it so you can collect it. Don't freeze a fresh turkey. Domestic freezers aren't equipped to efficiently freeze a turkey, plus why pay for a fresh one and then freeze it?

We're playing Christmas dinner roulette. If there is a fresh turkey crown available on 23rd we'll have that, if not frozen turkey or rib of beef or big chicken in that order of preference.

I'm just going with the masses to any supermarket to get a fresh one on the 23rd!! God help me😂!
Don't whatever you do freeze it Friday - it won't defrost in time. The couple if times we've had a frozen turkey it's come out of the freezer straight after breakfast on the 23rd. It takes 48 hours to defrost.

The safest way to defrost a frozen turkey is over a few days in the fridge. For a 6kg turkey it will take three days.

We're having chateaubriand and it's already in the freezer

Ocado will be delivering ours on Christmas Eve, however all their fresh turkeys are available from Tuesday and are in date until 26th.

Last year I needed to nip to the supermarket for some last minute things and there were loads of turkeys left. And I visited two supermarkets that day and it was the same for both. If you're worried, go early in the morning maybe?

Getting ours on Thursday for immediate defrost
