Help! Christmas cake recipe

Please can someone advise me. I am quite an experienced baker and adore Christmas cake. I make one every year but it is always crumbly and never slices cleanly if you know what I mean. I have tried all different recipes Delia, Mary Berry, Felicity Cloake etc but always have the same problem. It tastes great but just looks such a mess on the plate. I long to have a cake that cuts into proper unbroken slices. Would be so grateful if anyone knows where I'm going wrong and can point me in the right direction.Thank you so much.

Ok so here is the most brilliant recipe but don't tell everyone!!!

Only use 500g of mixed fruit though unless you use a bigger tin.

I've been using this for a long time and have iced it no problem. Friends always ask for it and have made it with great success

Have you checked your oven temperature? Even 10 degrees over what it should be might lead to an overcooked and crumbly cake. You can buy oven thermometers so you can see how close your oven temperature is and make allowances
