Christmas decorations theme.

Mine is very eclectic, but Jewel colours feature heavily, with a few odd hanging decorations I gave the children when they were little like fluffy snowmen and reindeer.

I would love to have a different theme or colour each year, but I think my DH would disown me!

Mine is Disney. Collected over 20 years.

Mine is woodland creatures. No baubles, just lots of foxes, owls etc and a troll at the top of the tree. My favourite decorations are a set of laser cut squirrels which I hide around the house on picture frames, bookcases, mirrors.

We've gone Scandi the last few years, with red and white paper decorations, felt animals and red and white hearts and stars. Mainly because we've needed indestructible decorations with a tree-fascinated toddler!

We might do that again this year I think, but I also have some gorgeous vintage glass jewel-coloured baubles in storage that I miss having out on the tree. Probably not worth the risk for a few more years though!

Mostly made of felt, wood, wire and wool. By me.

Plus a few heirlooms.

When DS was 1 he decorated the tree with toy cars up to toddler height. We ledt them there and he soent a couple of weeks rearranging them and swappibg them over, but it was wonderful to see how delighted he was by the tree and that it wasn't a no-go zone. A friend of ours put their tree in a playpen for 2 years so their dc couldn't touch it. It was precious and damn ugly

Last year I received a homemade felt Texas FC which is fabulous! I also have a white felt dove shaped by DS' handprint aged 2. And some of my DGM's decorations. And a wooden soldier from 1921. Themed trees aren't for me but neither is tinsel! So crack on

Silver and a kind of champagne coloured gold I did the colours thing for a while but last year took the plunge and invested in a nice new snow topped tree, giant baubles and ribbons. And promptly threw my tinsel in the bin

This year now tree is sorted I'm going to concentrate on my fireplace. I'm primed and ready for the day after halloween to run into the TK Maxx home section and snap up all the best bits! 😂

Ours is very eclectic and in some ways id like to be themed but I would have to start again. If I had the money and space I'd have two trees and one would be scandi or whatever theme I had for the year.

Lots of red but anything goes. I like decorations that mean things. We've just come back from Dubai and bought a camel bauble at the airport. We also get a couple of nice harrods decorations each year. And the tat ds makes. I love it all

elQuinto DD has lots of those toy £1 mice from Ikea - last year she was obsessed with wrapping string around their necks and hanging them from the tree at toddler height. Every morning we'd come down and the tree would look like a rats' gibbet

Anything goes here - the only rules are fairy lights must be coloured and no tinsel on thd tree.

Ours is red and gold, we bought all new last year as we moved house and our previous theme of purple and gold wouldn't suit the living room. DS has the old tree and decorations in his bedroom. Tbh though I felt loads more Christmassy when we got out the old decorations due to the memories of previous Christmases.

I've collected mine over the past 26 years that I've been in this house.

I do them in groups:
gold/bronze
silver/white/clear glass
Traditional - like those little resin figures, green,red, fabric

The tree has all glass, all colours.
My decorations though are red,green,royal blue,copper,purple

No pink. No teal. No lime.

I change round where they go (except the tree which always has glass)

Traditional Americana - White berry lights on tree with lots of decorations amassed from various holidays in the states including a 'little brown bag' filled with 'gifts' from Bloomingdales; Rockettes in red and white Christmas dresses placed next to my shiny red apple from NY; retro Rudolph and Santa figurines from the old animated movies etc and lots of red and white candy canes. It's a 7/8 ft tree and it looks the same every year - everything has its place I'll try to remember to post a picture on 1st December x

They all sound lovely. We have meaningful decorations too. My friend bought me a personalised 'baby's first' for ds 1, and we have a hanging army man from Toy Story bought from Disney World last year in April as a reminder.

Mine is a mix of red / white scandi, sparkly silver and natural browns stuff..twigs , burlap, gingerbread , Brown paper etc..it does all go honest..there is no Gold in my house anywhere

I'm on the fence about tinsel..my tree has always been too small but this year in our new house we are having a real tree (squee) Baroness Kirstie of Christmas seems to think it is essential

I would love to do a scandi scheme, but would have to buy a whole new set of everything.

I am obsessed with getting the right amount of white lights on my tree.

Why not have base colours - say silver and black - then add different one each year - red yellow green -

So it's different without being expensive - £1 shop are good for cheap effective baubles

Someone on here once referred to a tree decorated similarly to mine as 'as though Christmas had vomited all over it'. but actually pretty accurate. I love it

Can't wait now that DS is old enough to start making decorations as well. I'm a SAHM so our house will be like Santa's grotto this year as lots of time for crafting!

We have either red and gold or red and white- we changed it last year when we moved and had enough money to buy some nicer decorations
I buy a new decoration every year, and DD has a little photo frame one (she looks like a happy potato in it) and a first Christmas one
Think this year I'm going to have a crack at "helping" her make some bits to hang up!

FireflyGirl my favourite homemade decoration is to paint fir cones in either plain pva glue or mix it with green paint and cover with glitter. Lovely and messy and your house sparkles too

Think pine cones and glitter is a great idea. And gathering pine cones should kill an afternoon later in the year when it's a nice day. Two activities in one

DD had some input and decided she wanted the elves that brought her Christmas hamper hung on the tree too...x

I change colours every year as an excuse to buy more Christmas. We do have a selection of every year tree and room decs too.

This year will be white, silver and gold.
