...seeing as there's always a 'when do you put them up' thread Xmas Grin

I'll be taking mine down on twelfth night not that I will want to They've been up since the last Friday in November, the 27th I think. Over a month. The house will look so rubbish without them Xmas Sad My DM used to take everything down on Boxing Day - she'd get up at 6am and do it while we were all asleep, and we'd wake up to a bare house. That might be why I like to keep mine up for so long!

The tree/cards/ceramic bits and pieces etc will all come down/be put away by New Years Eve. The crib stays out until after the Epiphany.

Pranmasghost · 30/12/2015 12:43

Most things will be put away on Sunday but I always leave the crib and a few bits till the 7th.

27th - they were up first weekend of Christmas. Can't bear the mess any longer.

ChristmasHousewife · 30/12/2015 13:15

Ours went on Monday. I love putting them up but by the time Boxing Day is done they irritate me and get in the way!

80sMum · 30/12/2015 13:25

Tree came down this morning. I will keep the cards on display and the mantelpiece decs and a few other things up till new year's day at least. Will take everything down by 3rd January though, as back to work on the 4th and won't have time to do it after that.

I love christmas and the decorations. Would be sad to clear it all away so soon after christmas and especially before new year celebrations!

Our tree went up on 20th dec and will come down on Monday 4th jan this year.

millefeuille1 · 03/01/2016 17:45

Mine came down yesterday but I have left one set of lights up to brighten January a bit. Our little Jack Russell sat and whined at the space where the tree had been. I think she is missing it. I do like getting a bit of order back but it's a bit depressing too.

m0therofdragons · 03/01/2016 17:47

My parents always did 12th night but we tend to get them down before dc return to school so we feel sorted.

tilliebob · 03/01/2016 19:00

Mine came down yesterday. Some years it's all gone before NY. However this year the tree smelt lovely so it got some extra days --before I chopped it up and stick it in the recycling bin-

I couldn't go back to work with the decs still up sob

Today SadSadSad

Watto1 · 03/01/2016 19:03

Usually twelfth night but we are having a new sofa delivered tomorrow so I took the tree down today so it wouldn't get in the way.

MaryWortleyMontagu · 03/01/2016 19:05

Usually 12th night but will have to take the tree down tomorrow two days early (sob!) :( as our recycling is collected on Tuesdays and next week is the last week that they'll collect Christmas trees but we are away next week so will have to do it this week. I'll leave the rest of the decs up until 12th night.

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 03/01/2016 19:05

We took ours down today. We'd wait til 12th night but I can't face doing it during the week with work and school and homework and everything else. So today it was. It does look very bare in the living room now, and I think we need an additional lamp for more light.

MinesAPintOfTea · 03/01/2016 19:07

Today was we are ships in the night during the week and doing it solo with DS is unappealing.

Shockers · 03/01/2016 19:08

Today. It looks bare, and just highlights the fact that we're all back to school tomorrow.

Scarletforya · 03/01/2016 19:17

I'll take mine down tomorrow while dd is at preschool.

leb33 · 03/01/2016 19:23

Today, back to work/school tomorrow so blitzed the house today, tidied the toys and it's now all nice and fresh and clean and tidy.

Clutterbugsmum · 03/01/2016 19:47

Today thank god.

I was getting fed up with them. And also I wanted them put away in the loft before the working week started as we wouldn't have time during the week.
