Nicest Xmas Yankee candle?

SirNiallDementia · 02/12/2015 14:52

Looking for some Yankee Candle help as I don't use them myself!

Which of the Xmas Yankee candles smells nice? I need to get one for a present and have no clue!

Thanks x

I think it's like a budget range from Yankee. I seem to remember reading somewhere they use leftover waxes and ingredients and package them as 'Simply Home'

BooAvenue · 02/12/2015 20:54

They are to do with it, they're just the cheap baby sister of the real Yankees. They are still made by Yankee.

curriegirl · 02/12/2015 20:56

Festive ones for me are cosy by the fire, bundled up and Christmas garland. Christmas garland smells like a Christmas tree.

FuckyNell · 02/12/2015 20:57

I love snow in love too

randomcatname · 02/12/2015 20:58

AIBU to be very proud of myself for sniffing out the cheapness? They were horrid. Xmas Grin

imwithspud · 02/12/2015 21:27

No they are made by Yankee, they're just 'budget' versions.

SewingAndCakes · 02/12/2015 22:08

Ah that might explain why I don't understand the appeal. Better buy a real one then Smile

LinghamStyle · 02/12/2015 22:16

I'm not keen on any of the new Christmas scents, so I've opted for Red Apple Wreath and Season of Peace ( White Musk scent ) Season of Peace smells lovely, it's not a strong throw so I use it in the bedroom and bathroom.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 02/12/2015 22:19

Candy cane for Yankee. But I much prefer Woodwick.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 02/12/2015 22:20

QVC sell Yankee - you can watch the videos where they waffle on about the various fragrances ( the lovely Rosa and the lovely Steven)

They have some pretty good deals (like 3 large jars for the price of 2. Most places retail them at £22 ish. OK if you like all 3 or you can gift them. P&P is a bit hefty but I suppose cheaper than me driving/parking/buying other random tat and coffee)

jamtartandcustard · 02/12/2015 22:24

Never liked Yankee candles. Just can't get the hype.
Lily-flame candles are amazing though and they do a triple pack of Christmas scented candles.

Wombat87 · 02/12/2015 22:24

I LOVE Lily-flame's Silent Night candle. It's burning now and I only use it at Christmas as its a Christmas edition. It's not too sweet, but delicious.

Normal Yankee ones. I'm in love with the Fig one. It doesn't smell all that in the jar, but oh my it's lovely when it's going. DP bought me it as a treat - I'm a big 'sweet smelling' fan and would never have picked this up myself. If you aren't sure about them, but want one for you, then this one I find good, as its not over sweet or overpowering... But it smells nice enough for you to notice it. It's gone down a treat when I've gifted someone this candle also :)

BigcatLittlecat · 02/12/2015 22:25

Christmas Eve!

elvisthehamster · 03/12/2015 00:28

The 'simply home' range are the cheaper range, they have a lower percentage of oils so the scent is not near as strong,

I like ginger maple and cranberry ice , The apple wreath one is also nice. I prefer wax melts to candles.

weeblueberry · 03/12/2015 04:23

My favourite will always be Silver Bells but the gits stopped making it years ago and I'll never ever forgive them.

Current favourite is red apple wreath or cinnamon stick. Xmas Grin

Impatientwino · 03/12/2015 07:46

I don't like spiced/ cinnamon type scents but we have 'Christmas Eve' and also 'winter glow' - both very clean scents and love them!

I find them both very gentle but strong smelling if that makes any sort of sense?! Confused

ProbablyMe · 03/12/2015 08:00

Savour the Season and Apple Crumble are favourites here.

gaggiagirl · 03/12/2015 15:15

Can I ask please, are Yankees faked at all? I've just been into my local bargain shop and they have the 2 wick medium jars but the labels on the front aren't straight. Could they be factory seconds? I did buy the peach cobbler one and the smell is as it should be.

SirNiallDementia · 03/12/2015 17:08

So I went to the outlet today, thank you for all your advice!

I can confirm those "At Home" ones all smell absolutely rank (even though they are cheaper than the other ones).

I got Christmas Eve for my colleague in the end, it smelled so nice and Christmassy! I may also have put a few little candles in my basket as well just to try them out!

We've got the "Christmas Eve" tea lights and they smell lovely,

Behooven · 03/12/2015 17:43

Anyone know what kind of wax Lilyflame use? I'm trying to not buy the paraffin wax candles now.

Sedona123 · 03/12/2015 18:01

I used to love Christmas Wreath, but they discontinued it - why do they do that? :(

That said, I have now moved onto Neom Organics now as most non-organic candles give off nasty fumes.

Doughnutsandflapjacks33 · 04/12/2015 16:05

I saw Christmas wreath today in Clinton cards, I was given this one for Christmas last year but I don't like it ( far to strong for me ), I bought candy lane today.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/12/2015 16:26

I'm burning a Cinnamon Stick wax melt at the moment. It's nice , a 'pure' single scent. I don't really like Christmas Eve or Home for the Holidays (not keen on the berries smell)

(I'm saving my Sparkling Cinnamon votive till later Xmas Grin )

PerditaPage · 04/12/2015 16:36

Black Cherry is my favourite.
