For the first time except the Christmas ds was born, which was a strange one, we will be just us. Not parents, no in-laws, no sblings. Just us.
Am feeling very excited about not entertaining. And being in my own bed, without sharing with any children.

Do I sound pleased?

yes you do and rightly so

we always spend xmas day at home on our own - tis fab

santasaltire · 07/12/2006 21:15

Yes you do. Enjoy it. We have only had two christmases on our own since the Dses were born, which isn't bad out of 8 i suppose.
We have MIl and step PIL coming on chrismtas eve, but she keeps dropping hints about my mad SIL and nephews being on their own Christmas day, because BIL is working, but she is not, under any circumstnaces coming into my house!

TheArcAngelTLV · 07/12/2006 21:16

just me dh and dd, bliss

Quootiepie · 07/12/2006 21:17

this was supposed to be 1st Christmas on our own - now we have DS and our own home... but nnoooohoooo, DH wants to see his mum. Im not going, so most the day will be me & DS...

nutcracker · 07/12/2006 21:18

So far it will be me and the kids and my mum. One of my brothers might decide to come at the last moment, or for xmas tea instead.

First xmas without xp so it will be weird but hopefully better.

paulaplumpbottom · 07/12/2006 21:19

All of my dh's family is coming over.

Nemoinapeartree · 07/12/2006 21:19

Aww posey it does sound good
christmas for us will be get up with DC, open presents
then my sister usually visits for an hour then we go to see dhs parents..dont know if we are having christmas dinner with them but hope so as his fil is a chef..mmmm then we are back home by 5/6pm to relax.

GiraffeGotTheLastRoomInTheInn · 07/12/2006 21:21

F* knows at the moment.
Am torn between my parents, in laws, and being at home on own with dd. Only prob is dp won't go to my parents' house because my mum upset him a while ago, and has announced that he will stay at home with me and dd until lunch time and then he is going to his parents' house. We are welcome to join him if we please, apparently.

I have said I am having a ham sandwich for lunch with dd at home.

I would go to MILs with him but i am afraid of upsetting my parents and I just want to be at home with dd. But dp has decided he is not joining us for lunch (not really a ham sandwich).

Sooo pissed off and I don't know what to do.

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:22

tell him he's being a tosser

deaconblue · 07/12/2006 21:24

Christmas is time for family (to be said in a Peggie Mitchell styley) your dp should want to be with dd, not mother imo Giraffe

VoodooKumquat · 07/12/2006 21:25

gawd it is a total political nightmare in my clan...my parents are temporarily living with us, until their new house is ready...

I have two sisters and their partners who are all coming to join us on christmas day, then we are going up to the inlaws for boxing day, a 140 mile round trip, because they cant be arsed to come down and see us...never mind that it means we have to trawl round with the baby and all of her stuff, as long as it doesnt put them out, FGS

so I am cooking for 9 on xmas day, and MIL bitches on phone to my DH that she doesnt want to cook anything on boxing day?!

If it is such a damn hassle why the hell are we going???????
Grrrrr Scrooge

LittleSarah · 07/12/2006 21:27

Weird weird day for me... morning at my dads with siblings, cousin and uncle, then off to my ex's in the afternoon for lunch with him, his flatmate, his flatmate's dad and his ex flatmate!

fireflyxmasfairylights2 · 07/12/2006 21:30

Giraffe why don't you tell your mum & dad that you and Dp and dd are planning on having your dinner at home? Won't dp be ok with that? (prividing it isn't a ham sandwich) Or is he going to his parent either way?? 'Cos if that's his attitude then he couldn't respect you or dd very much!!

Posey · 07/12/2006 21:32

Oh the juggling of family (and in LittleSarah's case ex's flatmates too..)
