For the first time except the Christmas ds was born, which was a strange one, we will be just us. Not parents, no in-laws, no sblings. Just us.
Am feeling very excited about not entertaining. And being in my own bed, without sharing with any children.

Do I sound pleased?

Same as Posey & feeling the same as Posey . In fact we won't e doing family of any kind until the 28th when we start travelling.

Tommy · 07/12/2006 23:18

spending the day with PILs, SIL and BIL and niece and nephew and possibly my SIL's MIL

not done the in laws before - we normally go to my Mum's but I'm guessing it will be a bit like Boxing Day that we do normally do with them

I don't care really - I'll do whatever keeps the peace

I'll be in ex inlaws with dd and ex because they don't live in this country so I'm taking her there so she can spend xmas with them for the first time....I am NOT looking forward to it

GiraffeGotTheLastRoomInTheInn · 07/12/2006 23:25

ahh. may not be for very much longer unless he changes radically.

tbh am waiting until we have come back from holiday, and till christmas is over, before doing anything (although increasingly things are coming to the fore, as they are prone to do in these situations)

he is a tosser at the moment.

the family will be on holiday so hopefully after trez pissed up xmas eve hangover will last til about 12. by which time the kids will have snowboarded themselves silly and at least one injury will have occured. not giving a shit i will pour misel another alkaseltser and ask dh to find the insurance documents for .....later.

xmas dinner will consist of...erm.... dunno shops will be shut - we travel on the 24th so we may very well starve or just eat snow. good point - note to self take stuff to make xmas stew.

no telly in the evening because its french and i no understand french, xmas telly is piss - french xmas telly must be trez piss.

no option but to drink self into stupor and make snowman whilst pissed. note to self. buy vodka and coke and take with as shops will be shut.

GiraffeGotTheLastRoomInTheInn · 07/12/2006 23:31

I know.

He is a bit, but tbh, if I spend xmas afternoon on my own with dd, it is hardly going to be spoilt.

I can nip to see MIL etc for an hour or two, deliver presents, let dd have a bit of spoiling, and then retreat home sans drunk dp.

I hope. If i time it early enough that dp doesn't ask for a lift home.

DingDongDraculaOnHigh · 07/12/2006 23:33

dh, dd, ddog, my Mum and Dad (divorced many moons ago but good mates), db, his girlfriend and various friends

jamieboo · 07/12/2006 23:36

i would find a christmas with just us so.. odd! Am I alone?!
Am not looking forward to an eleven hour flight with a four year old and two under a year. And a 20 year old who hates flying. And a dp who likes to sleep throughout.
but however am looking forward to christmas day by the pool

pandagirl03 · 08/12/2006 09:39

well our xmas day is going to be such a rush all day not sure if im looking forward to it to be honest. The day will start by getting up about 5/6am with dd to open her presents then get ready and dash over to my dads house which will be full with my 6 step sisters and step brother get there about 8.30/9am then off to my mums for about 10.30/11am were my uncles will come and see us all. Have dinner at mums relax a bit then about 4pm we go and collect dp's children bring them to our house for a few hours then take them back. By the time we have finished all that no doubt i will be ready for bed. Last year was the same i was so tired by about 2pm.

southeastastra · 08/12/2006 09:41

my dp, mil and my two sons. i hope there are lots of postings on christmas day! as i'm usually going crazy by the second installment of eastenders that mil insists on watching at full volume. also spend the day teetotal

ludaloo · 08/12/2006 09:44

My dh, dc and my cat

HoHoHorsewoman · 08/12/2006 10:49

This year will be odd because we have moved 'Up North' and harder to get to family. Visiting my parents 21 Dec and staying til 24th (Mum's b-day on 23rd) Then having Christmas eve (lunchtime onwards) in our own (very partially renovated and veryscruffy) house. Will then drive to London (3 hrs!)on Christmas day night for annual knees-up with the rest of my family. Christmas wouldn't be christmas without that. Love it! Luckily DH's family live in Ireland, so we don't have 2 sets of families to worry about 'who do we go to this year?' (DH works so we have to stay in England)

hulababy · 08/12/2006 10:52

Christmas Day is always just us - me, DH and DD. This started when DH and I first moved in together (prior to DD being around). We love it - we can do exactly what we want, when we want. We stay in PJs half the morning, we drink champagne for breakfast, we eat chocolate before lunch and we take as long as we like over present opening. Dinner is when we get round to it.

It's great! It's the one day each year that is just for us together.

TinselgalacticWalrus · 08/12/2006 10:59

It'll be me DP, the DSs and our friend who han't got any family locally. We have also invited our neighbour who can't afford to get to Australia to see her daughter She's 84 and is great company, so I'm really looking forward to having her here.

We will probably stay at my Mum's on Christmas Eve, but her and her DP are working on Christmas day, so thy just want a quiet one when they get home.

MerryMegandSnowySoph · 08/12/2006 11:01

Its my first ever year since having my children that I close to them. So opening pressies here just myself and my children and then we are off to my parents for the rest of the day. There will be myself, 2 dd's, my brother and mum and dad. Just like the old days plus my two babie. Ohhhhh i'm so excited

yeahinamanger · 08/12/2006 11:46

This year I will mainly be with -

12 crackers cracking

11 mince pies burning

10 fingers blistering

9 unwrapped pressies

8 pounds on my backside

7 veg for peeling

6 pans available

5 children squabbling

4 hours of sleep

3 dogs farting

2 gin soaked harridans

and a large bottle of wine for me

yeahinamanger · 08/12/2006 13:58

Oh and a Turkey !!

TerrbileTwos · 08/12/2006 14:23

It will be me, my DS aged nearly three, my mum & my dad (both aged 70 but act like three year old around my DS). A very quiet christmas day in contrast to the utter chaos which decends on the 26th when my 7 brothers & sisters plus their respective partners, wives & husbands plus the rest of the 15 grandkids aged from 23 to 3.

Its actually great fun and all the kids get on great but despite the fact that we all go out to a local restaurant for dinner my mum still insists on having enough food in the house to feed a small country!!

Pinkchampagne · 08/12/2006 14:36

Christmas day is always spent round my parents house. I will take the boys round as usual & spend the day with my parents, sister & BIL.
We also go round there on Christmas Eve, as that is always our Christmas Day with my nan.

tiredemma · 08/12/2006 15:31

we are going to Dp's fathers (fantastic HUGE) house - with lots of space for the kids to go tearing around without getting under our feet.

Dp's stepmum is the best cook ever and is cooking for 14 of us, I cant wait!!
