Or is my 7-month-pg SIL just being a bit...grasping??
Was told today that of course they were expecting the foetus would get christmas presents.
I would like to blame hormones (and first-time-mother-syndrome ).

Oh and of course I won't be buying something for a person not yet born to open on Christmas Day.

Hmm
bctmum · 03/12/2006 23:44

gosh! - would expect a super pressie for the mum to be - something relaxing - but not for her unborn baby!!

Clary · 03/12/2006 23:46

eh? Am always amazed at people telling you they expect a present. Personally I am grateful to be remembered by anyone.

tortoiseshell · 03/12/2006 23:48

last year I received a present from both my unborn baby and my FIL who died over 10 years ago! I wouldn't expect to give either of them a present...

JinglePrunes · 03/12/2006 23:49

Oh she's never backwards at coming forwards!
I thought it was a bit mad tbh.

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 03/12/2006 23:50

oh FFS!

greedy baggage

MrsJohnCuSackFullOfPresents · 03/12/2006 23:50

yes am due Feb - wouldn't even enter my head
extra presents for fat grumpy me - now that's a better idea

mamama · 04/12/2006 00:00

of course not

Boleyn · 04/12/2006 00:00

Sorry ,no - nothing to do with unborn baby who really, when born, doesn't need presents until c 3-4 years. So its with SIL ..... and brother ...

Even, for those who are religious, Jesus got his his first pressies AFTER birth.

Tell them you are thinking of conceiving .. and the unconceived foetus needs a gift - and bigger becuase smaller (reverse "logic" might confuse into silence!)

goodness. without wishing to tempt fate, she must be very confident that everything will be fine. (but i'm saying that as someone who spent my entire pregnany waiting for the sky to fall on my head...)
still - no presents for the as-yet unborn. she is nuts.

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 04/12/2006 00:14

in fact, let me use my first festive emoticons...

eh? Why would you expect presents for someone who isn't here yet? A bit greedy IMO, considering they will presumably be expecting presents when the baby is born.

First baby due in March and certainly do not expect any presents for the unborn.

Although MIL has bought baby a moses basket for a pressie and SIL is buying us things for the baby but none of it is expected.

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 04/12/2006 00:24

what about a knitted irritable uterus for Natalie Jane?

NativityJane · 04/12/2006 00:27

I would love a knitted irritable uterus, make sure it has a proper angry, moody, grumpy expression though, else I might have to send it back.

And Snowman, I think you should be careful, you have no idea how hurt this cushions feelings are right now!

PMSL Aitch

joelallie · 04/12/2006 10:43

No. I suppose you could ask her if she would rather have a christmas present for an unborn baby OR a present for a newborn baby. Both ain't an option

Was there a chance she was joking?
