Does anyone else hate wrapping Christmas presents?

One or two is okay, but if, like me, you've bought quite a lot and then have to wrap them all, and you're not done with the buying yet! Bloody hell!! I've just spent the last two hours wrapping presents and I'm cream crackered now! Got to go pick up the little people soon, so have just been rushing round the house like a termite hiding them all before kiddies get home and go "wahaaaaaayyy!! Santa's come early!!!!"

Don't get me started on stocking fillers! Have yet to buy the bloody things, let alone wrap them!

Bah Humbug!

Only the odd shaped ones, the rest are fine.

busybusymum · 29/11/2006 14:32

sorry I love wrapping pressies.

PanicPants · 29/11/2006 14:38

Hate it. Have a spare room full of presents that need wrapping

ludaloo · 29/11/2006 14:38

oooh I love wrapping.....I do them all...

(dh does everything in the shape of a cracker....he hates wrapping so he folds and scrunches instead)

JackieNo · 29/11/2006 14:40

I love wrapping, but less so for the unusual and awkward shaped ones. Don't bother to wrap stocking fillers though. It has to be nice paper though - one year bought some thin holographic paper, and it was completely impossible to use. Very frustrating. But normal paper is very satisfying to use - and I love finding ribbon to go with it too.

expatinscotland · 29/11/2006 14:41

i hate wrapping presents. love buying them. HATE wrapping.

sunnysideup · 29/11/2006 14:42

Just set aside an evening for doing the wrapping, get some fizzy wine in and put something lovely on the telly or radio, and it will go with a swing

the trick is to have just enough fizzy wine so that you get to the "I don't care what it looks like, so long as it's wrapped" stage..

ProfYaffle · 29/11/2006 14:42

I enjoy the first 3 then get really fed up

mamijacacalys · 29/11/2006 14:43

Yes - that's why DH does it!

fruitful · 29/11/2006 14:58

Its worth wrapping stocking fillers if you have smallish children - it means "opening the stocking" lasts a good long while and you can get more sleep.

I don't mind spending an evening wrapping presents. What I hate is wrapping presents for the grandparents, aunties etc where dd wants to help. I just want to get on with it without having to keep unsticking screwed up bits of sellotape and surreptitiously re-wrapping bits so they don't look too awful.

Kittypickle · 29/11/2006 15:03

Hate it but it is a lot easier now I have bought one of those big solid sellotape dispensers.

Tanktop · 29/11/2006 15:11

Move to Italy... When u buy a gift the shop assitant will wrap it all pretty for you. Much easier and saves so much time.....

Issymum · 29/11/2006 15:19

Hate it - our neighbour's teenage daughter (13) does all of ours for £10.

Dophus · 29/11/2006 15:23

I also love wrapping. It's isn't X-mas without a good X-mas film, a glass of mulled wine and some serious wrapping. Must have a sellotape dispenser though!

Dr Zchivago (spell?) is the perfect wrapping film!

maycontainstress · 29/11/2006 15:34

I too love wrapping presents, I LOVE it. I save it all for 23rd or Christmas Eve. I put Stevie Wonder on the stereo, light some candles and croon away wine, selotape, wrap, wine, selotape, wrap. Admittedly the last few presents before bed look like wrapped fish and chips.

PrincessPeaHead · 29/11/2006 15:39

I've just done about 40 presents this afternoon.

Haven't started on the kids or dh's yet though.
Sigh. Large families, hey.....

cupcakes · 29/11/2006 15:46

have been wrapping in dribs and drabs over the past month. Did dh's today and finished the children's aaaages ago.

xmasmummy · 29/11/2006 15:49

i love wrapping pressies, put on a xmas cd and with the tree lights on its great fun. dont bother with large or awkward shaped pressies just buy really big gift bags. also wrap all the stocking fillers apart from teddy to go in top.

PennySweets · 29/11/2006 18:24

I would enjoy it if, like many of your suggestions, I had dim lights, glass of vino, something Christmassy on the stereo or telly. But I can't do it in the evening cos you can just bet one of my dc would get up, so I do it during the day when they're at school. I guess it's just not the same.

I always think I'll love it and then get fed up VERY quickly, haven't started this year yet, keep putting it off....

PersonalClown · 29/11/2006 18:30

I'm a pressie wrapping fan too. HAD to do mine early as ds discovered the hiding place and was quitely playing with most of them!!
For my annoying brothers I just have to make the presents impossible to get into though. Smug look on my face as they try and fail!!!

mrsratty · 29/11/2006 18:31

I find it soooo boring. This year I have wrapped the presents as I bought them. I don't want to spend the eveing on christmas eve wrapping like last year!

PennySweets · 29/11/2006 18:41

My first few presents get curling ribbon, bows etc. Cut to present number 8 or 10, not quite the same effect!

pointydog · 29/11/2006 18:51

I like it. I don't have loads to wrap though.

fartoobuzzi · 29/11/2006 19:40

yes
