Let's pool our ideas:

Viz subscribtion

Funny book Hound Dog by Richard Blandford Very rude, very funny and has Elvis impersonators - what more could you ask? Actually quite touching too in a Clockwork Orange way.

nose hair clippers plus anti snoring nose plasters? a real must have in this household!

foulmoonfiend · 12/10/2006 17:51

my dh wants a meteorite! Lovely I thought, til I saw the prices on them on ebay

bettythebuilder · 12/10/2006 18:54

A mereorite! Wow! Could you not just give him a piece of rock?

I bought Dh The Dangerous Book For Boys for our anniversary (on a mumsnetters recommendation!) and he loves it.

foulmoonfiend · 12/10/2006 19:04

LOL Betty - did think about that, especially as they were charging £60 for a 5mm bit of rock (but with an authenticity crad - well, that makes all the difference eh?)

Dangerous book for boys does look fab, but we'd have to hide it from our boys as dh couldn't make a soapbox go cart to save his life...and we wouldn't want to shatter those boy/father illusions now, would we

more ideas please everyone, this is a good idea of Bucketsofbloodydinos!

brimfull · 31/10/2006 21:34

a day at the golf course and some new balls....golf ones

themoon666 · 31/10/2006 22:16

Do Gap do vouchers? DH needs a makeover of his smart/casual wardrobe.

themoon666 · 31/10/2006 22:17

Boxed sets of dvds.... got DH Firefly/Serenity which he loved (its a sci-fi thing)

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 01/11/2006 17:45

Subscription to The Idler. Only comes out twice a year (natch) but is a great toilet read and much safer to leave lying around than Viz.

ernest · 01/11/2006 17:52

the onion? (funny book)

viticella · 01/11/2006 23:03

Book/CD/DVD's ? Wandering around Borders usually inspires.

I'm going to get DH one of those leather hats with a brim as he works outside a lot in the summer and is always getting sunburnt/rained on!

ratclare · 02/11/2006 09:23

im getting mine a brief case which is incredibly dull i know but he had the one i got our first christmas stolen. blokes are ridiculousley difficult to buy for though , my dad is a complete nightmare too

ParanoidAndroid · 02/11/2006 09:29

The Idler is fantastic, I subscribed for DH a couple of years ago and he (and I) love it.

Used to get the Erotic Review when it was edited by Rowan Pelling - very funny, but I'm not sure what it's like now.

Gap do sell vouchers - that tends to be one of DH's presents.

This year (hold your breath girls) I've bought half - yes, half - a suitcase for taking bicycles on planes. How exciting is that?! (It's half because I couldn't afford the whole thing so my parents are contributing the other half)

AnguaVonUberwald · 02/11/2006 09:49

digital camera? gadget, and you get memories out of it.

pammo · 02/11/2006 20:56

Dad gets lead crystal whiskey glasses (BHS has a bargain set for £15!)
FIL likes Cohiba or Monte Cristo cigars
Suggestions for your other half based on what mine likes : -
Evo magazine subscription
PC Gamer magazine subscription (DVD version)
Q magazine subscription
Go-kart racing day

wantaliein · 11/11/2006 23:49

bump as I would love some more ideas. Always a headache for dh and dad. Previous hits for me have been a skidpan day and several other adrenaline related 'days'.Also tickets to see comedians we both like . But not earning much now so cannot just throw money at it. dh always makes a big effort and mine is usually his only pressie-help!

expatinscotland · 11/11/2006 23:50

My dad's getting some framed money.

Two £1 notes - back and front. And two Jack Niklaus £5 notes.

And an 'autographed' copy of a history of Leith book.

Peridot30 · 12/11/2006 00:27

my dh is getting SFA! Ha ha only joking Dont know what to buy him either. Why are guys so hard to buy for?

wantaliein · 12/11/2006 00:35

my dh has a habit of buying himself stuff he likes which leaves xxxx all for me to buy. He has no hobbies, does not wear aftershave and has better dress sense than me so dare not get clothes! come on girls I'm sure we can spare a few pounds less of bright colured plastic for our dhs/dps? but what to get.

Beelliesebub · 12/11/2006 10:42

Projection alarm clock? Might go down well as it's a gadget..... Band of brothers box set? DH loves a good war film... The only trouble is he might want you to watch it too!

helenhismadwife · 12/11/2006 15:07

we have just moved to our dream house so we have said we will get a joint house pressie (an antique wood burning stove for our sitting room) instead of an expensive pressie to each other so it will be little things only;

I think I will be getting my dh
a man bag, he carries more junk round than me usually business stuff and they do some nice ones here not girly looking
a dvd of some sort
choc or alcohol
and of course he has me

lexiemum · 12/11/2006 19:24

dh is getting a replica light saber (darth vaders apparently!) at his request. I fear it will adorn the mantelpiece for some time to come

figgypud · 12/11/2006 19:33
