Do you wrap everything?

I was thinking of keeping a few things unwrapped this year, my DD's Sven peeking out from behind presents... DD2's jack in the box set on top of a pile maybe... I thought it would look really festive and enticing

DH disagrees and says everything must be wrapped... What do you think?

Must be wrapped even if obvious from odd shape - DS getting a new tennis racquet.

Everything must be wrapped unless it's so huge that it would need more than a roll of paper - it then gets wrapped in a blanket or a throw.

We wrap everything except things that need built.

I do think your idea is nice OP but when I was a child it was all about the unwrappiing for me. So I would be annoyed at one less to open.

I find wrapping really chilling and relaxing... So I wrap everything.. More because I love doing it rather than anything else!

I'm not doing a Briony and wrapping the bikes, and I don't wrap stocking stuff. Other presents are wrapped though.

Dd is getting a desk this year -I won't be wrapping it but I might sick a bow on it

Gotta be wrapped. I even wrap sticking fillers.

In years gone by I've opened everything to put batteries in/unscrew those awful wire ties/build anything that needs building ... this year I haven't ... dh will just have to manage on Christmas day.

I wrap everything, the stocking gifts get done in tissue paper. Will wrap the space scooters on Christmas Eve, but have wrapped a huge beanbag

I wrap everything, including stocking presents (Father Christmas re-uses last year's!). Stockings take a bit longer to open if presents are wrapped - not much, I grant you!

Everything except the toothbrush that lands in the stocking every year, not the same one every year obviously :)

I wrap most things but if there is a teddy or doll I tend to leave it peeking out the top of the stocking.

Also, you don't want to suffocate teddy, so it's perfectly acceptable to leave him unwrapped. don't care about dolls, suffocate away.

I like the idea of a few unwrapped things!
DS's new wooden garage will be unwrapped due to size / shape and we want to build it in advance, so it will get a ribbon an a bow! (And some cars parked in it)

We wrap most things although this year the dcs are getting new bikes so these won't be wrapped. We also wrap stocking fillers but have one soft toy unwrapped peeking out of the top with a candy cane .

We started as we meant to go on and it has worked very well! Logically all these presents wrapped and tagged from Mum, Dad etc cannot have been brought by Father Christmas - stands to reason as William Brown would say. It was only a matter of time before our two would be suspicious and questioning (and observant). So we had stockings by their bed from Santa with chocolate, fruit and a small but unexpected and suitable present that they could not have seen anywhere - all unwrapped and not labelled. This they could find 'as soon as' on Christmas morning.
The rest of their presents are all under the Christmas Tree and we have lengthy sessions opening them one by one taking turns to give presents out. An maiden aunt who always joins us for Christmas makes a list of who gave what to whom so that they can do their thankyous and this is now a lovely record of every Christmas!
Of course they did figure it out at some stage but we still keep up the tradition and neither of them - now teenagers - has ever felt the need to deny the 'existence' of Father Christmas...

I don't wrap any Santa presents! I like to have them all sitting displayed nicely for the kids to open the door in the morning and see their little faces try to take it all in! They have plenty which are wrapped from family.

We've never wrapped Santa presents.....it seems odd to me. Santa makes the toys and delivers them....no need to wrap. They were never wrapped when I was young or DH but we're both from Ireland (north and south) so maybe a regional thing. I love seeing DS's eyes when he opens living room door and sees everything.

Ah but when watching any Santa movie or looking at pictures of Santa's sleigh, the gifts are always wrapped.
