As previously, if you shot a link in the OP links isn’t working/no longer in date, please let me know by posting in bold so I can easily see to update Thanks

If I’ve missed anything good from any last threads onto the list please let me know.

I've been a bit rubbish and not updated from last thread. But things are settling down for Christmas now so I'm working on the basis it's more a share of sales bits coming up/how the presents went down on the big day.

Earlytorise · 20/12/2014 13:23

If anyone is RL shopping today can you let me know if you notice a sale on in store at The Body Shop ? Left it way too late for an online order (unless I pay for express delivery which I'd rather not do). TIA

RJnomore · 20/12/2014 14:13

Help!

I have for the first time been given the chance to book a next VIP sale slot.

I've got in for 10pm on Monday and Thr lovely grey fair isle bedding is in Thr sale - I can see the preview.

If I order it, will I be able to collect it on 24th in store??

Pigleychez · 20/12/2014 14:25

RJ. I've never seen the collect option for the sale. Its home delivery only.

Plus although it's in the preview there's no guarantee it will be there by the time you get to it. The slots start from 5pm on Monday. Fingers crossed for you though.

Pigleychez · 20/12/2014 14:32

how spooky! just after I wrote that I got an email from Next saying this year they are changing thier delivery and you can now request your order to be sent to your nearest store!
No idea how quick it would be though

frankie80 · 20/12/2014 14:34

is anyone going to do a sales thread for the boxing day sales etc?

zipzap · 20/12/2014 14:36

wume check out argos for camera deals...

I was going to get ds2 (6) this canon camera that's been reduce from £100 to £50 - www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2482626.htm
Looks like it is a proper camera that an adult would be happy with, should be reasonably robust (although not a rugged one), decent number of pixels, reasonable zoom, rechargeable battery and half price Grin Will be lots better than cameras that are normally £50! Definitely get a case to go with it to protect it though. Oh and if you look through the special offers with it, there was a good deal on a 32Gb card which would hold loads of photos - they don't come with them so you need to buy one with it. Comes in 4 different colours, I've just linked to black but they're all the same price.

I have got ds1 (9) this canon bridge camera from there too £119 instead of £279 (might be a smidge more now, I got it on black friday) - www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1712483.htm
He's already had a small camera and loves taking pictures and films so this is the next step up. Likewise, should also have a good deal on a card for the photos and there was also a free case that came with it.

Neither are the latest models but I think it is better for a child to get a more expensive camera from last year that's been reduced rather than pay for the new features (which actually aren't that different from last year these days, especially at this price bracket) if you see what I mean, you get much more for your money that way...

ALternatively look on the argos ebay outlet or the amazon warehouse returns/refurbished for some good deals.

RJnomore · 20/12/2014 14:52

Yes I had already had that email pigley - ill just need to see if I can get it or not.

Going to have a browse round Thr kids stuff now.

imip · 20/12/2014 16:06

I recently got dd1 8 a nikon coolpix s32 (I think, £79). It'd brill bc it is drop proof, waterproof (so can take it swimming to about 3 mts I think). Different boarders, effects. She loves it. I've seen it recommended here and other places also. Haven't seen many deals on it, but it does seem the most kid-friendly.

She's moved up from a vetch camera, which were much used in this house!

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 20/12/2014 17:47

I have a snow glow Elsa reserved at Swiss Cottage argos until 4pm tomorrow if use to anyone

LucyTheValiant · 20/12/2014 18:14

Argh I have to buy for a 15 year old girl. I thought I was done! I know nothing about her. What do 15 year old girls like?! £5-£10 budget...

RJnomore · 20/12/2014 19:04

My 15yo has already opened a present from one of her friends - it wa a Starbucks mug with chocolate coins in, probably around that price and she LOVED it. It's almost a cant go wrong type of present as it doesn't rely on what music, clothes etc she is into?

Will try to find online and link.

Badvocinapeartree · 20/12/2014 19:06

I have seen lovely ceramic travel mugs from matalan, Costa, next etc all for £5-10 - team one of those wot some hot choc sachets and marshamallowS.
I would love that and I'm 42!! :)

RJnomore · 20/12/2014 19:08

This - it's out of stock online but maybe in store?

meerschweinchen · 20/12/2014 19:09

I don't have one of my own, but the 15 year old girls I know seem very into make- up, beauty stuff, hair stuff. Obviously not all though. I know a few that are not at all interested in that sort of thing! So I guess it really depends! Do you know anything at all about her?

Alternatively, they seem to like pretty stationery - little notelets, unusual pens, pencils etc.

WUME · 20/12/2014 19:18

Every 15yo girl I know loves their bed. And anything associated with sleeping.

Based on that;

Slanket
Slipper boots
Onesie
Warm fluffy dressing gown

Or iTunes voucher.

Petal7 · 20/12/2014 19:42

Thank you for the John Lewis Christmas duvet cover tip off. They are only £10 and my children LOVED them! The covers are reversible too, which is pretty cool.
Loads of reduced Christmas decs, crackers, cards in JL too. And Christmas rubber ducks! Have gone a bit mad in JL today!

LucyTheValiant · 20/12/2014 19:44

Oh thank you all, I think I will go with the hot choc and mug. I would be wary of getting her slippers etc in case I get the wrong style or she already has some. She's the new step daughter of my DHs cousin so I do want to get her something and make sure she feels included and part of the family but I don't know her at all (met her on once at the wedding a few months ago), so I think that'll be a fail safe Flowers

ipswichwitch · 20/12/2014 20:14

Where's good to buy men's combat/ cargo type trousers? DH wants some so I'm going out Monday for them. Would have had everything done already but DS2 been struck down by a chest infection all week :(

I've bought Christmas cards for next year already! Asda have the little ones for DC to give to friends for 25p for a box of 15.

Chocolou · 20/12/2014 20:56

Try fat face for nice ones. My dp has tried them from everywhere and they wash so well next ones however are crap!!

AuntieMaggie · 20/12/2014 21:25

I bought Mug cake book and mug and was going to put the ingredients for a cake in the mug with instructions like $add an egg and microwave" but most of the bloody recipes ask for cream! Argh! So I may go with hot chocolate instead.

OodKingWenceslas · 21/12/2014 08:08

Daddykiller your link links to this thread Confused do you still know where it is?
