I'm hosting for the first time this year. (For 12 Shock)

Mil asked what the menu was and was shocked that I wasn't having mash potatoe or Yorkshire puddings.

Mint sauce = lamb

Bread sauce and cranberry = Turkey

ExitPursuedByABear · 17/11/2014 16:18

Each to their own........

Blu · 17/11/2014 18:26

I have mint sauce with any meat/gravy meal, including bangers and mash.

I have indeed the mother and father of roasting tins, Tinkly. I bought it specifically to fit all the spuds plus the turkey. My oven is pretty big and the tin just about slots in. I never get a huge turkey as the DCs get tired of leftovers after the 27th. I sometimes put the parsnips in a separate dish with butter, but one year I forgot about them completely and went through the whole meal racking my brains trying to figure out what was missing.

I am quite traumatised at the thought of mint sauce on turkey. Grin

HelloItsMeFell · 19/11/2014 13:59

Calling Yorkshire puddings, yorkies is just wrong. It jars and sounds effected. I think it is a MN thing and not something that anyone says in real life.

You scored brownie points from me there itsfab…….

I do mash and roasties on Christmas Day

……and then I had to swiftly deduct them from you. Sad

FIL has mint sauce on any old roast dinner but has the cheek to call me odd for having it on my mushy peas Hmm

Starlightbright1 · 19/11/2014 14:05

We tend to have yorkshires with any roast dinner. I am not sure what we will be having , although we never have turkey. I haven't given it much thought at all

Riverland · 19/11/2014 14:09

No mash, no Yorkshire puds. No mint sauce!!?!?

Roast parsnips, mashed swede, red cabbage, sprouts, roast potatoes, cranberry sauce.

Sallystyle · 03/12/2014 18:22

You have to have mint sauce with turkey! Mint sauce is a must with any roast. I have to bring my own when I go out to eat often!

Here we have

Turkey
Two types of stuffing
Roast pots
Red cabbage
honey glazed carrots
Sprouts
Mash sweet pots and suede
sausages wrapped in bacon
Yorkshires

MsRinky · 03/12/2014 22:44

Pheasant/partridge/pigeon roast with stuffing
Pigs in blankets
Roast potatoes
Yorkshire puddings
Roast shallots/carrots/parsnips
Sprouts with chestnuts
Red cabbage
Sprouting broccoli
Bread sauce
Jamie Oliver make ahead gravy, light on the star anise though
Cranberry

So glad I am hosting this year so I can have everything just as I like it!
