I'm looking for a hardback copy of the book. Something beautiful that I'll enjoy reading to my dd every year. Can anybody recommend one?

Go onto Amazon and search "the night before christmas (Award Gift Books) it's a beautiful copy and is hard cover... From £6.99.

YY Amazon - I bought the Christian Birmingham illustrated version (before I had the M&S version, pictures a bit cartooney ) the illustration varies so it depends on the age of your DC.

And you'll learn the names of all the reindeer - good for a pub quiz Wink

DD is too old to read this with now...its not quite the same reading it to myself. Enjoy.

The Robert Sabuda one is by far the most beautiful version I've ever seen. It's hardback and a pop up book. Check it out on amazon because it is fairly pricey everywhere else, I got it for about £6.50 on there. It's AMAZING, I'm looking forward to Christmas Eve even more this year Grin.

I got a pop up one from Amazon about 10 years ago and my son and i ( who is now 12) still love reading it. It's stunning and it's still in print see link below!

Lol poolo! Didn't even read the other comments but saw you recommended the same one! Great minds think alike!

Luciferbox · 18/10/2014 20:50

M&S did a copy last year. I think I picked it up for £2

gymboywalton · 18/10/2014 20:50

i bought one in marks and spencer years ago-lovely illustrations.
we read it every christmas eve before bed and my kids are 14 and 11!! so yah boo sucks to too old! Grin

Roobix04 · 18/10/2014 21:15

Thanks I can't wait to read it to dd. She'll only be 9mo at Xmas but it's a tradition in the making. My older dsis used to read it to me when I was little so it's quite special to me. I think I might get the pop up one. I saw it on the waterstones website but they didn't have any pictures of the inside.

Another vote for the Robert Sabuda version. It is a work of art.

Oldraver · 19/10/2014 15:59

I have one illustrated by Penny Ives... its called a changing picture and lift the flap book, where you slide one picture over the other by moving a ribbon. The illustrations are beautiful.

mamabluestar · 25/10/2014 07:26

I bought this yesterday for the bargain price of £1.60 :) [[http://www.marksandspencer.com/the-night-before-christmas-book/p/p22351296?OmnitureToPDP=night+before+christmas&ddkey=http:MSSearchResultsDisplayCmd ]]
This reminds me of Christmas as a child and I just had to get it for my DC :D

ConstantlyCooking · 25/10/2014 08:53

We still read it every year and DCs will be 15 and 18 this Christmas. They like the tradition now and the book comes on holidays if we are away over Christmas.
