I have no idea about candles but my Dad likes them and I'd like to put one in his hamper. Where is your favourite from?

What sort of scents does your dad like?

HibiscusIsland · 25/09/2014 19:43

Or do you mean an unscented one?

LikeSilver · 25/09/2014 19:47

Scented. Anything really. Eucalyptus is a no go as he's epileptic.

Ruby Bee are lovely candles, and the lady who makes them is so nice - I met her when I went to her house to pick up an order. She is a WAHM.

Yankee Candles -
you can get large (about 110-150 hours ) about £20
medium
small
votives (you need a candle holder for them)
tarts/melts -you need a burner

lots of Christmas scents . Look in Clintons, House of Frazer, Debenhams

I only buy the large ones. Not smelled the Christmas ones for this year yet Smile

Mumraathenoisylion · 25/09/2014 19:55

these lily candles smell lovely and there are a lot of different Christmassy scents.

Woodwick candles are a bit different as they crackle and fizz as they burn (due to having a wooden wick!)

My current fave is a honey and chocolate glade candle. £5 in Tesco, or, as I discovered last week, £1.89 in Bodycare!

I love expensive candles and regularly splurge on a nice Jo Malone one as a treat... however my absolute favourite for winter is 'Christmas Tree' three wick by Sainsburys. Around £7.50 and available from November every year for the since 2010!

HibiscusIsland · 26/09/2014 08:42

I have a lovely Sainsburys one that I bring out at Christmas too. It's a red one and has a Christmas spice/mulled wine sort of smell. Must try the Christmas Tree one too this year as I love Christmas Tree smells

The Sainsbury's ones are out already. I really like the Yankee Candle Red Apple Wreath for Christmas.

Leviticus · 26/09/2014 09:21

Yankee Candle Cinnamon Stick. The past couple of years Clinton cards have had it as their candle of the month in September or October, which is 25% off.

Noth my local store are holding out on me... I will check again this weekend!

Pollywallywinkles · 26/09/2014 18:11

TKMax can get some good, not too expensive candles. I rather like the Parks scented candles.

Guitargirl · 26/09/2014 18:43

My mum has apparently giving us some Yankee advent calendar house thing this year, I haven't actually seen it yet so I don't know what it's like.

Rituals do nice candles but a bit pricey for size. Tx maxx have a nice selection (ck ones are amazing), woodwick are good but i found the hearthwick crackle ones a pain in the arse, the noise is just annoying.

roxyisfoxy · 25/11/2021 16:59

Just bought one for a friend from www.inbloomandco.com and it smells incredible ... might have to get one for me too . Lol

Poppins17 · 25/11/2021 17:32

It’s not Christmas for me until I’ve burnt a Yankee Candle in Christmas Eve scent.. I love it so much

NameChangeinHaste · 25/11/2021 18:14

My favourite are The White Company Winter candles

shreddednips · 25/11/2021 18:48

I've just bought an absolutely cracking Christmas candle from Aldi, it's one of their hotel collection ones called 'crackling embers'. It's absolutely massive though so might not fit in a hamper, but could be good for a main gift? Cost £9.99 and has the crackling wood wick things.

Oooh yes these are good too, I have the diffuser and the whole house smells festive!
shreddednips · 25/11/2021 18:51

Oh and I really recommend Lovato candles, they're amazing and reasonably priced. I got them as presents for people last year and ended up keeping half of them because they are so nice.

Yankee candle Christmas Eve is my favourite too. Always get them on sale after Christmas and store for the next!

I also really love woodwick. Cinnamon chai or crimson berries are very Christmassy.

No need to pay full price they are always on offer somewhere.
