We love a Friday Night DVD night, and in the run up to Christmas it has to be a Christmas films.
Our favourites that we already have are;
Elf,
Miracle on 34th street,
The Santa Clause,
The Grinch
The Snow man, and Father Christmas
Home Alone,
What am I missing from my must watch Christmas film collection?

Today I was too busy for festive stuff as I was educating DS about Labyrinth and the wonder that is David Bowie!

magicalmrmistofelees · 21/08/2014 20:25

Definitely muppet Christmas carol!

Sheldonswhiteboard · 21/08/2014 20:27

Die Hard

scrappydappydoo · 21/08/2014 20:27

Anyone know when the christmas movie channels start? I love all the cheesy made for tv films. They're normally about a single man/woman who has suffered some tragedy that means they hate christmas. Then they normally meet lots of inspirational people, fall in love and learn the true meaning of christmas - there's usually some cute kids involved somewhere.

sukysue · 21/08/2014 20:32

The Christmas shoes omg such a tear jerker x

McBear · 21/08/2014 20:40

You're missing the best one. It used to be on every year when I was little but they stopped it.

I think it's called Santa clause or the Santa clause. I think Dudley Moore is in it.

An old man is lost in the snow in olden times, discovering he is destined to become the next Santa. The years go by and an elf gets out and gives everyone a lolly sprinkled with the dust that makes the reindeer fly.

There's also the family stone and the nightmare before Christmas.

scrappydappydoo · 21/08/2014 20:44

Mcbear that's Santa Claus the movie - and I now have the song in my head Hmm
The santa claus is the one with Tim allen who kills santa so automatically beomes the next one

cruikshank · 21/08/2014 20:44

Definitely Muppet Xmas Carol and It's A Wonderful Life and I second the vote for the grownups to watch Bad Santa which is a really funny film. Would also add White Christmas, the granddaddy of them all. And Frosty The Snowman, which used to be shown every year back in the 70s. Jimmy Durante rocks.

CiderGlider · 21/08/2014 21:37

Home Alone: Lost In New York, plus I now really love Christmas with the Kranks. The Holiday is a good adult one too.

KissMyFatArse · 21/08/2014 21:41

Home alone, jingle all the way, the Santa Claus x

ILikeToClean · 21/08/2014 21:45

Elf is the best, followed by Home Alone but DH always makes us watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, which I moan about but secretly quite enjoy.

ASpiderInTheBath · 21/08/2014 21:52

There's a lovely one about the reindeer Prancer but not sure what it's called - could be Prancer?Confused

I loved the Snowman and the Snowdog last year.

Also a recent one is The Nativity, it's a comedy with Martin Freeman, funny in a cheesy way but some real laugh-out-loud bits, the kids thought it was hilarious.

And Frozen (disney) is quite Christmassy I suppose what with all the snow.

oh, Elf on a Shelf if you have little ones too.

ASpiderInTheBath · 21/08/2014 21:52

Oh yes cider, The Holiday is lovely.

McBear · 21/08/2014 21:53

Sorry! Shock I don't remember a song Blush

Love actually too of courseSmile

ASpiderInTheBath · 21/08/2014 21:54

Also depending on the age of your dc there's Santa Paws which is really sweet (disney).

hugoagogo · 21/08/2014 21:58

Obviously-Muppet Christmas carol

The Santa Clause 1, 2 and 3 Grin

Elf!

It's a wonderful life

and don't forget most important Gremlins!

I also love the Holiday, but don't tell anyone

starlight1234 · 21/08/2014 22:01

I was going to say Polar express...

It isn't Christmas till we have watched it

Hollycopter · 21/08/2014 22:02

There's a lovely funny film called Bernard and the Genie, with Alan Cummings, Lenny Henry and Rowan Atkinson. It was on TV years ago but you can get it on YouTube or on Dvd from eBay.

Clr2014 · 21/08/2014 22:04
