A pyjama.
A film.

Finito. Thats it, for each of them.

I think ds1 (11) would want proper headphones for game play/skype and also music, so possible to plug into both Iphone and pc.

ds2 (8) would probably need headphones for his ipod, and an itunes voucher (he is getting ds1s old ipod)

Greythorne · 20/12/2013 23:48

What help do you need?
Advice on best prices or hard cash?

BigArea · 20/12/2013 23:50

Sorry OP but have to say mumblecrumble I am loving your posting style Xmas Grin

OP perhaps what mumble is trying to say is - what sort of help do you need? Is it a budgetary issue, a time issue, an ideas issue or what? How can The Hive Mind help? Xmas Smile

MacaYoniandCheese · 20/12/2013 23:51

Just do what you can afford, OP and try to make the day special by doing FREE things and being together as a family.

mumble what are you typing on? Grin.

QuintessentialShadows · 20/12/2013 23:54

I need IDEAS!

I am not skint. I was under the illusion that this would be enough, because Christmas is all about the food, being together, and the spirit of the season, the birth of Christ, etc.

But I have just realized that they may be a bit too young (8 and 11) to appreciate my philosophy yet!

QuintessentialShadows · 20/12/2013 23:58

I cant go to Argos, but dh is flying out to join us tomorrow, and he will have Dixons at the airport. That is why I am thinking headphones. Cant think of anything else he could possibly get on the way. Hmm

What else do they sell in Dixons?

Luggage16 · 20/12/2013 23:59

could you bulk the dvd out with some popcorn/bottle of fizz/sweets to make it a film night hamper?

Ninasaurus · 21/12/2013 00:01

Yes get them more gifts if you can afford it. Maybe even a voucher which they can use in a special shopping treat day? (Plus get some bargains in the post Xmas sale)

QuintessentialShadows · 21/12/2013 00:01

You lot are so lovely. People have pmd me kind messages. Thanks

Please, everything is fine, it was just an abrupt and hurried OP because I wanted to get some quick Ideas to email dh before he travels tomorrow morning.

Christmas is all about the food?!?!?!?

Where can you get out to that would enable buying presents? Can you use amazon?

Have you asked what they would like?

CheckpointCharlie · 21/12/2013 00:03

Books, Chocs, socks, erm, am thinking dixons..... DS?

OutragedFromLeeds · 21/12/2013 00:03

What other shops do you have access to?

PatriciaHolm · 21/12/2013 00:03

What have you done in previous years?

Luggage16 · 21/12/2013 00:05

if you can get amazon prime for the month you have a couple of days left for delivery..

I would def aim for a few more bits, or 1 'main' for them. Are they used to big piles or happy with just a couple?

gruffalosmile · 21/12/2013 00:05

I got DD some great headphones from Sainsbos.

Does seem a bit sparse, to be honest, if you're not skint - could you fling together a stocking with things like chocolate, silly socks, books, etc? 99p shop good for bits. I have girls and they are easy to please with smellies etc, perhaps not so good for boys!

Can you get to a big supermarket? Or local shops?

QuintessentialShadows · 21/12/2013 00:05

They are getting sweets in their stockings.

I could buy and print amazon vouchers - they are totally into Nerf so they could then buy that themselves.

The movie night is a great Idea, I will actually get them popcorn to go with the film. It is The Snowman, and the snow dog, both films in one. That would make it really nice. Thanks. Smile

They are not really into Nintendos anymore, but I know ds1 wants COD Ghost.

I am in Norway now at my parents, so I have a few toyshops with extortionate prices. I usually buy the presents before we go, to avoid the inflated prices here.
Cant buy itunes here either, as it wont download to foreign devices.

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 21/12/2013 00:08

Do they have an xbox/playstation type thingie? Games for it? Some books/games assumi g there's a bookshop at the airport?

QuintessentialShadows · 21/12/2013 00:08

Did I forget it was Christmas? Sort of. I had a a month of home exams, one in on the 1st of december, the second out on the 2nd and in on the 16th. Flew out on the 17th. I have had the flu, both kids have been ill, both on antibiotics, so no, Christmas escaped me....
