What have your 8/9 year old DDs got to open under the tree?

Just being nosey really, got their stockings pretty much done, and their main present under the tree (it's a joint one). Other than that, they've got a couple of books, new outfit and shoes and a couple of other bits and pieces (can't remember what).
DS has got quite a lot of stuff, he's younger and much easier to buy for!
So I was wondering if you had any good ideas for any other things to get them for under the tree?

Dd is eight and a half. She encountered a typewriter she could have a go on earlier in the year at a National Trust property and was fascinated by it. If it doesn't turn out to be a hit, I'm certain that she will like the farting sound effect machine that will be in her stocking.

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 12/12/2013 00:50

I love karaoke! DD and I usually go on it together but sharing a mic has been a pita Grin !

BeaWheesht · 12/12/2013 02:45

hallow funnily enough ds also discovered his love of battleships through the medium of a happy meal.

snowmanshoes · 12/12/2013 06:35

DD1 (8 in the New Year) would love a typewriter I think that's a fab idea! I've got mine similar to what has been mentioned and there are lots of the klutz activity/book sets on Amazon half price so worth a look there. She's also got:

Ever After High dolls
Draw Something party (game)
Interactive globe
Telescope (from DD1)
Magic tooth fairy game
Momiji message doll
Harajuku perfume (tiny amount of perfume with japanese doll figure on top)
Crayola Sketcher Projector
Crayola Hot Heels
Glitzi Globes
Kindle (from grandparents)
Stocking has things like Monster High top trumps (as the MH Uno cards are a ridiculous amount of cash!) drumstick pencils, Quink ink, mini lalaloopsy dolls, Zelfs and I think I may have squeezed a VIP pet n there too!
I have also got her a pair of gingerbread man earrings too but think I'll let her wear those to her school disco
x

Dancemom, DD is getting 1D tickets too, she's going to do cartwheels, lol

Also 1D CD, Hudl and case, pillowpet, Onesie, Littlest Pet Shop, chocolate, PJ's, zebra bag, books. That's all I can remember.

ZingChoirsOfAngels · 12/12/2013 10:13

he was 9 last week and got a brand new bike, so for Christmas he is getting a new DS3 game.

that's it. he chose what he wanted and is delighted. (he wanted the bigger present for his b'day, as opposed to DS4 who is 7 on Saturday and wanted the smaller thing now and the bigger thing later.
same difference! Grin)

they all getting one present each this year - DS1 a mini Smartphone, DS2 a mini iPad, DS4 a tablet, DS5 big box of Lego.

DD gets a box of duplo and a doll - her presents are the cheapest.

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 12/12/2013 11:57

Lots of great ideas here, thankyou all.
Have ordered some Harajuku perfume for younger DD as older one has a bottle. They look really cute aswell :)
They've both got a Klutz book each in their stockings, and one of those message dolls too. I think they'll love those.
Also on order is the Just Dance 2014 as a joint present, and a few CDs to share. They share a bedroom still, so most of their things just get put in their room for whichever wants to use it. They share nicely at the moment, they will be moved in the next year or so though, to minimise as much teenage horror as possible Xmas Grin

Dum, we found that the microphones we had didn't last very long, I wondered if they were getting damaged from all the spit that flew into them when my friends and I managed to shove the kids out of the way and show off! We replaced them and the same thing happened. Good luck with yours, they are great fun but it was just getting in my way downstairs!

oh ffs - I read title as DS! sorry!Blush Grin

MuffCakes · 12/12/2013 12:11

I've just ordered beanbags, what a great idea and it's a big present to bulk out under tree Grin

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 12/12/2013 12:24

Zing it's okay Grin
I think I'm done now for the DDs.
MUST NOT ORDER MORE BEANBAGS.
And repeat.

Retropear · 12/12/2013 16:57

Can I ask which Klutz books you're giving?

Mattissy · 12/12/2013 17:03

Oh yes, beanbags. I got ds 12 a bean bag in a v shape so he can also put it on his bed and use it to lean against when he's watching tv, make his bed more settee like.

NorkilyChallenged · 12/12/2013 18:22

those message dolls look brilliant, my girls would love them, where can you get them?

DumSpiroSperHoHoHo · 12/12/2013 18:47

Hallow I'm not expecting miracles from the microphone but it will mean we don't have to share.

Have got the new version of the CD set she had last year with the machine - great for chart stuff but it does mean there's the odd dubious track in there - will have to make sure she doesn't stick Blurred Lines on when I'm out of the roomConfused !

I must admit her list has been pretty restrained this year, which is lovely as she did very well for her birthday in September (pair of guinea pigs plus all the kit and Jessie J tickets). She's the only grandchild for my parents so whatever I don't get her they will and between us the whole list gets covered.

I have refused to buy any more Lego Friends kit though, and thankfully she's decided that any Christmas money she gets is going towards a digital camera rather than Heartlake High thank God!Grin

hallowisitmeyourelookingfor · 12/12/2013 19:32

Retro one of mine has the Klutz Cootie Catchers book and the other has Cats Cradle.

Norkily our message dolls came from trusty Amazon, along with a lot of the rest of my shopping this year.

Dum we have a load of Lego on its way over Christmas. They have a couple of the Lego friends sets already, Olivia's House, the vets and the bakery (?) but after it's been made up once it all gets bunged into the massive Lego storage boxes for general playing. We have kept all the building instructions and it's nice on a rainy half term day as they go off upstairs, shut their bedroom door and set about making some of their old sets! The only thing we have kept separate is the Hogwarts Castle.

Thanks to everyone, I think I'm pretty much done. I've also realised, it's not The Twitch, it's just that I hadn't finished my shopping Xmas Grin
