What is on top of your tree?

Religious, secular, traditional, or just plain odd or unusual?

We have let the angel retire and have a felt owl this year.

A pretty much normal star Smile

CoffeeQueen187 · 08/12/2013 16:59

I have a drunk angel Grin

She starts of sitting up straight then after an hour or so is facing the floor. She normally gets left like that for the rest of the day

SnowMuchToBits · 08/12/2013 16:59

We haven't put ours up yet, but it will be the usual geriatric fairy, which dates from the 1960s, and went on the tree every year throughout my childhood.

BuzzardBirdisnotpartofa4birdro · 08/12/2013 16:59

A very glittery gold star

HotelTangoFoxtrotUniform · 08/12/2013 16:59

An owl sounds awesome!

We have a star. To stop the arguments between me and DH as to whether it's an angel or a fairy. I tried to tell him that the Fairy Gabriel didn't come down from heaven but he won't be told, so it seems safer all round to have a star.

callmekitten · 08/12/2013 17:00

A fairy.

DramaAlpaca · 08/12/2013 17:00

It won't go up until next weekend, but when it does it'll have a star, with an angel just below it.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 08/12/2013 17:01

An ageing snowman.

This is his 7th year on top of the tree - we may need to retire him soon!

VikingLady · 08/12/2013 17:01

A Bad Taste Bear! We'll get a star next year, when DD is old enough to notice

Cutteduppumpkin · 08/12/2013 17:01

We have an orb type thing, apparently traditional (because my parents had one).

soontobeslendergirl · 08/12/2013 17:14

Nothing. Tree is up and baubled to within an inch of it's life but there is nothing on the top, it looks fine without.

whereisshe · 08/12/2013 17:20

A silver star-ish thing. I'm not sure what it's supposed to be but it looks pretty!

CloserLook · 08/12/2013 17:32

A star. It's cheap and red and glittery (well some of it is, most of the glitter has fallen off tbh) and was purchasesd a couple of years ago when we moved in to the house just before Christmas. Really want to replace it with a nice fairy or angel but DS insists it goes up every year.

kiwidreamer · 08/12/2013 17:35

The star we got in Salzburg from gorgeous Christmas shop I spent an hour in and couldn't decide what to get so grab this star on the way out cos I had to get SOMETHING after browsing for an hour!!

wonkylegs · 08/12/2013 18:04

A giant perforated paper star... It's about 20inches across but because we got a ridiculously large 10ft tree it looks just about right.

Golddigger · 08/12/2013 18:05

It will be a wonky looking angel.

Retropear · 08/12/2013 18:08

A lopsided Ikea straw star.

HouseAtreides · 08/12/2013 18:11

We have a different topper every year who gets to wear a Santa hat. Last year it was DD1's sock monster; this year it's DD2's battered old teddy bear who used to belong to my brother. :)

Velvetbee · 08/12/2013 18:18

A gold coloured metal sun, we've had it about 18 years. The kids hate it and every year I have to defend it (and give them a lecture about the winter solstice).

MissGuineapigsRingingBells · 08/12/2013 18:29

Mine currently doesn't have anything, I have a pop-up tree that's waist height, and I've yet to find anything that won't make the tree fall over. I'm edging more towards a star though...and I now like the idea of an angel under itGrin

lfchome · 08/12/2013 18:38

A Robin - passed down from dh's parents (the robin is about 60 years old now).

NoComet · 08/12/2013 18:47

A five pointed gold fine tinsel wrapped twig pentagram.

Nice and pagan, except church have been known to have exactly the same one hanging in the doorway of the sanctuary.

Go figure.

mrspremise · 08/12/2013 19:06

We have a fairy doll that my dear departed Nanny nade for me when I left home... She keeps an eye on the DC and reports back to F.C. Grin

DisneyAddict88 · 08/12/2013 19:10

we have always let dd1 choose who goes on the tree last year was sonic the hedghog and this year is her special pink teddy wearing dd2 1st xmas hat from last year Grin

50shadesofknackered · 08/12/2013 19:11

A beautiful Angel. She is new and replaces the previous Angel that would never stay straight and drove me mad each year. She is lovely
