hi all, i've trawled through the Christmas board and have got lots of tips for my girls, but there don't seem to be many threads for little boys!

My ds (who's 6 in April) hasn't got a wish list and doesn't seem to have any ideas about what he wants. What have you got your sons/nephews/other boys?

he likes lego, and last year really liked imaniginext batcave/castle etc. he isn't really into anything. i wouldn't know what lego to buy him though. What other building type toys are there?

all ideas welcome. thanks!

Thanks for the heads up about the batteries Thexmaslogin - I've just ordered a whole pile of cheapies from ebay.

MummyPig24 · 05/12/2013 14:06

Ds just turned 6 and from us he is having a bike. From FC he has:

Slam bam skylander
Bubble bath
Wash mitt
Batman puzzle
Batman boxers
Toothbrush
2 playmobil knights sets
Ben 10 umbrella
Selection box. I think that's everything.

Dd is giving him the Ninjini skylander, other family have got him clothes, a dressing gown and a few surprises.

Thanks for this thread - marking place! DS (6.3) has only asked for Lego this year, though it would be Star Wars Lego which you need a mortgage for.

He has asked for
Lego X-wing
Lego AT-RT

He's getting them as they are still not the price of last year's maxi-micro scooter!

He's also getting a marble run, a sudoku rubik's cube which I bet will be a git to solve, and a Lego A-wing from a very good friend. Perhaps also a Lego Tank Droid Confused from another friend.
I would love to get him some snap circuits but I think the above is quite enough!

MIL and SIL will invariably get him clothes, which he hates. I have to offset the crushing disappointment somehow with more boys toys. I have a sneaking suspicion that they wish we'd had a girl as they both love shopping for fashionable things and we are total fuddyduddies

Headred · 05/12/2013 16:30

We have that play tent Heisenburg it's just lovely x

clairedunphy · 05/12/2013 16:32

For those buying a marble run, does anyone have any specific recommendations, there seem to be a lot of different types available? Thanks.

Vagndidit · 05/12/2013 16:38

DS (5.11) is getting so far...

A collection of bits picked up in sales over the past few months:

HotWheels shark track
1 RoboFish
PaperJamz microphone
Monsters U DVD

For his big gift, I've got my eyes out for the Imaginext castle to drop below £47.99. crossing fingers Dunno if it will though.

TheHOHOHOnlyPink · 05/12/2013 16:46

My ds6 doesn't really play with toys either. He has asked for
jenga boom
a dominoes set that has a little truck to set them up and obstacles (he is really yerning for this!)
a yoyo
a watch
an alarm clock
an mp3 player.

have also gotten him a Lego castle set, Lego chima racers, Phineas and ferb cd (think he will love this most of all) a children's cook book, a few books, skylanders swapforce for the 3ds and Lego batman dvd.

Badvocatyuletide · 05/12/2013 16:47

Claire...my bro has got him the M&S marble run. Was quite good price wise compared to others iirc.

Fandan · 05/12/2013 16:49

My DS will be 6 in June, he plays a lot with his toys, he is really into ninja turtles just now, so he's getting some more figures, and playset, turtle Lego, games for his DS, new football boots, shin guards etc, monsters inc and despicable me 2 DVDs, some games like frustration and operation, can't actually remember what else lol! Better check the cupboard x

jennymac · 05/12/2013 17:00

Spiderman costume
Power rangers sword
Remote-control car
Lego
Despicable me 2 dvd
And he and his ds are getting a secondhand wii between them as a surprise.

ItsIgginningToLookALotLikeXmas · 05/12/2013 17:06

Ds1 is 6. We have got him playmobil football, an elc dinosaur set, new scooter - and the things he asked for which were a 3ds and an xbox game (wish he'd never heard of video games, he never wants toys now) and a nerf gun.

BehindTheScenesAtTheMumseum · 05/12/2013 17:21

My boy will be 6 soon after Christmas. He is having:

Wooden castle (the Melissa & Doug one)
Magic set (also Melissa & Doug)
Galt Mega Marble Run (he's had the Super Galt one for 3 years and loves it, so this is an expansion!)
Enchanted Forest board game
Lots of books - haven't decided which ones yet!

In his stocking he's having a cuddly owlet from the Barn Owl Trust, pocket microscope, a spy pen, They Might Be Giants CD and a Doctor Who figure among other little bits.

I'm really excited about all his presents this year - all he has asked for is 'a sooger mows' (sugar mouse - I found a pack of 3 in different colours) so he is going to be blown away!

For his birthday he's having a maxi micro scooter as he's grown out of his mini but still rides it every day.

ClaireDunphy I can heartily recommend the Galt marble runs, DH and I often get a bit carried away playing with DS's one Smile

Owllady · 05/12/2013 17:23

Loads of papo knights

Owllady · 05/12/2013 17:25

We have also bought the $80 wooden medieval castle from toys r us but I am being modest;)

Badvocatyuletide · 05/12/2013 17:26

My dc have the Melissa And Doug castle...it's ace :)

Badvocatyuletide · 05/12/2013 17:30

Owl lady.....I have been scouring e bay recently for playmobil knights and Vikings for my dc :)
I got a Le toy van Viking fort half Price in a sale and have had quite a few bargains from e bay for figures etc.
They will be thrilled :)
Ds1 only asked for nerf guns (which I loathe) and ds2 only asked for a model plane so all their gifts are pretty much surprises!
I always get them lots of books every year...this year they have he minecraft annual each, ds1 has a couple of the book people collections which are really good value (like £15 for 20 books)
Their stockings have stuff like bath bomb, glow stocks, finger lights and small toys like glider planes.

MummyPig24 · 05/12/2013 17:36

I forgot about the 3d book in his Santa sack. I want to get another book too.

Ds got the elc marble run for his birthday and it's good.

MummyPig24 · 05/12/2013 17:37

Oh and the Michael Jackson Moonwalker DVD. He loves a bit of MJ!

clairedunphy · 05/12/2013 17:48

Thanks bad and beyond, will check out both of them.

Guadalupe · 05/12/2013 17:49

ds2 is 6 and we've bought this marble run

BeattieBow · 05/12/2013 20:59

thanks everyone. I got v excited about marvel heroes lego which I thought he'd love, put it in my amazon basket and then discovered 2 virtually unopened boxes from last Christmas. oh well!

like other boys on this thread, he just doesn't really play with things.

I would like to get him a hudl I think, but I've possibly left it too late as I think they are probably impossible to get hold of. dh wants to get him an xbox (not the new one), but I'm not sure about that. so so far I like the idea of
the zoobs,
an imaginext dinosaur,
connect 4,
something lego-y (but will have to get our act together to build these with him)

I'm going to look at the teenage ninja turtles as he may like them.
someone else has got him hex bugs
i can't get marble run as baby dd eats the marbles
he would probably love a nerf gun
I did forget he does have a favourite toy - his scooter that he got for his 5th birthday.
i like the idea of a play tent too, but not sure we've got room.

I've just scanned quickly and spotted lots of things my 5 1/2 year old would like/is getting, but just wanted to add dressing up stuff? DS likes power rangers so he's getting a costume, he's also got batman, knights stuff etc that he puts on regularly.
