I got the recipe from here ages ago and can't remember the posters name to give them credit Xmas Blush

But I've made them loads and everybody loves them!

500g dark chocolate (I use the 30p bars from Aldi or Asda)
350g icing sugar
200g Philadelphia
2 teaspoons of flavouring (vanilla essence, orange etc, or if you want alcoholic ones add a few more teaspoons of whatever flavour you want)

Melt the chocolate then mix everything together in a bowl. Shape into balls, cover then eat Xmas Grin

I've found that you have to let the mixture set for a bit (only a couple of minutes) before you try to shape them otherwise it starts to melt a bit again and it can be rather messy.

Then you cover them in whatever you like, chopped nuts, desiccated coconut, cocoa powder etc. I usually grate some chocolate very finely then roll the balls in the powder.

Thanks TooWet!! I know what I'm doing this weekend!!

OvO · 06/12/2013 11:26

OMG, I took a chance on that Papo castle that was on Amazon for £16.99 when it was meant to be about £80. I thought they'd send the figures it clearly was meant to be, but the castle just arrived!

So so happy. Thank you so much to whoever posted about it. Best bargain I've had so far. Grin

joymaker · 06/12/2013 11:27

Mmm, they sound lovely TooWet think the DC and I will give them a whirl too Xmas Smile

Oreocrumbs what tea and coffee did you get out of interest? I'm starting to think about teaching staff now

LaTrucha · 06/12/2013 11:51

Thanks Toowet. Sonds great!

Wrapping up here! I can only say I shall never be buying Debenhams wrapping paper again. It is mean and thin beyond belief. Matalan is much better.

I have to divide what I have bought between Christmas, DDs birthday and Reyes, which is when Spaish children get their present, so even though i have a ton of things, not individual present pile looks that amazing. Must restrain myself! I will not by more!

iloveholidays · 06/12/2013 11:56

fab recipe. Can I ask how long they'll last? I've bought a load of cellophane bags which I'm planning on filing with chocolates and shortbread. not sure when I can start? thanks

Not sure TBH ilove they never last long round here before they're all scoffed! Apparently you can freeze them but I've never tried so can't vouch for it.

LinzerTorte · 06/12/2013 12:13

ellen I posted a couple of free delivery codes for the Book People yesterday - hang on...

LinzerTorte · 06/12/2013 12:18

The ski wear in Aldi atm is really good. It was chaos when I went in yesterday morning and there was nothing left in the size I needed for dd. DP went in after work and they had restocked. Dd had the boots on to nursery this morning and she says they are comfy and cosy (only £8.99) and we will try out the £14.99 jacket and trousers set this afternoon as it's snowing now. Aldi

BobCrotchstitch · 06/12/2013 12:27

Snowing? Snowing!!!
Where dandelions where

Mamafratelli · 06/12/2013 12:29

Would I look bonkers if I give all the teachers and teaching assistants a book for christmas? They can always register I suppose.

Mamafratelli · 06/12/2013 12:33

Oh and back to the bargains, trees and decorations half price in sainsburys. A few online too. I just picked up a 6ft pre lit tree for £20.

Mamafratelli · 06/12/2013 12:34

Regift not register!

LaTrucha · 06/12/2013 12:38

I spotted one flake here in West Wales....

LaTrucha · 06/12/2013 12:41

Can anyone recommend a good book about things people do for my 5yo? The only thing that interests her is people. She loved the Usborne First Experiences book, but she's outgrowing it. She also loves Richard Scarry's What do people do all day? which is about jobs, but I'd like to get her another one.

grew · 06/12/2013 12:41

Sorry if this is old news but the babyliss big hair is reduced in asda to only £28. The larger size is on asda direct and oddly the smaller one in groceries.

dandelionsRflowers · 06/12/2013 12:46

BobCrotchstitch It was snowing in Aberdeen, the sun is shining now though and what is on the ground is disappearing rapidly. It's still cold enough to try out ski wear though isn't it, if you're four that is. Sadly no sledging.

IHeartKingThistle · 06/12/2013 12:48

LaTrucha Usborne (I think!) have books about individual occupations - DS has the firefighters one. They're quite detailed.

Yep just checked - it's these

Nix01 · 06/12/2013 13:01

Ooooh OvO, I'm so excited to hear that. I bought the last one and just thought if they send me figures I'll return it! My kids are going to LOVE it!

LaTrucha · 06/12/2013 13:08

They look perfect Iheartkingthistle. The ones on rubbish and recycling and China look just up her street! Hmm She's a random child!

IHeartKingThistle · 06/12/2013 13:18

She sounds awesome!

LottieAndTheDinosaur · 06/12/2013 13:22

is there a quick way of searching for UK sellers on amazon? I've stupidly been dithering over the fox owl bag for DNiece but sis thinks she would like it. It says 10 - 26 working days for the one from Honk Kong.

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 06/12/2013 13:22

OvO I also took a chance on the castle but mine hasn't arrived yet. Is it just the castle on its on? If it does arrive in putting mine away till possibly next Christmas as my babies are too young.
