Normally the first weekend, but I think the 7th or 8th this year. Then the grotto the following weekend, baking the weekend after that.

The tree is my favourite bit of Christmas, but most of you would think ours looks shit.

Ideally Christmas Eve. Realistically, a month from today, approx 22nd Dec this year.
Playroom tree will be decorated the week or so before Christmas. Thinking perhaps the 17th...

BowTieAndStraitjacket · 22/11/2013 01:11

Usually the first weekend in December but going away next Friday so will be putting it up on the Thursday. It is usually down by the day after boxing day.

Still18atheart · 22/11/2013 01:15

I haven't really thought about it but probably between the 15th and the 20th

jamtoast12 · 22/11/2013 07:13

Usually the first weekend of December but that's a bit early this year so putting decorations, outside lights etc up on Sunday 1st, then put the real tree up on sat 7th. We get a huge real one. we have coal fires most nights in the same room and it always lasts til after new year. Its often about £60 for the size I want so I must have at least 3 weeks out of it to justify the cost!

octopusinastringbag · 22/11/2013 07:16

Probably in a couple of weeks.

RevengeWiggle · 22/11/2013 07:21

I would have put mine up in August if DH had let me, but it's more likely to be 1st December. I might be able to persuade him to let me put it up this weekend.

I don't get sick of it, I love Christmas for the run up, the present buying and wrapping, the baking, the decorating, the light switch on etc so if I can drag it out then I'm happy. Winter is depressing for me so I like a bit of sparkle in the house to cheer me up Grin

We have an artificial tree which will go up some time between 11th and 15th Dec. I often put up the tree one day and decorate it the next after it has 'fluffed up' from being crammed in the box all year. It takes a while to put up as all the branches have to be hooked on individually and the ends arranged to look natural.

QueenFuri · 22/11/2013 09:19

I put mine up on the 1st and take it down NYE . That's the way I've done it since I had Christmas in my own home. My dad put ours up on the 24th every year and looking back what's the point!? He always took it down the 27/28th old scrooge He still does it that way now!

coraltoes · 22/11/2013 09:53

6/7 dec i think. I like to have my pick of the trees and stock dwindles by the weekend after! crazy!!

TheBookofRuth · 22/11/2013 09:59

1st December. I'd actually love to put it up now but something in me won't countenance Christmas decorations up before December, so they'll go up as soon as we hit it.

TheXmasLogIn · 22/11/2013 10:51

The DC want it up NOW!

I'm holding out until it's at least December, before any decorations go up and probably won't allow the tree until 2nd weekend as usual, so 7th/8th.

I like to put a few bits up every day or so, not everything all at once. That way the house becomes more and more Christmassy as the month goes by.

SignoraStronza · 22/11/2013 11:46

Once school breaks up. Dh will absolutely not countenance having a tree up at the same time as his birthday. Personally I think he's being a bit preciousWink .
