Where do you hide your presents?

Just for fun, where do you hide your presents?

I used to hide them in our closet, until it became a favourite hiding spot for the kids. DD would always come out from hiding with some item she had been coveting and ask what this was and then who it was for. Man, I had to think on my feet sometimes.

I then started hiding them in a separate low cupboard that usually had laundry baskets blocking it off. But after Christmas last year, started using it for the supply of school friends' birthday presents and the kids spotted me at it, so now know about it.

This year, I'm hiding them in a very high cupboard in their own room! They can't reach it even with a chair, but they could with a bit of creative climbing. However, it hasn't been opened in the past 6 months, so I'm hoping it's safe. I've also hidden DH's gifts in there, so I have to make sure not to casually mention it to him as he might otherwise be tempted to look!

Next door neighbour's spare room.

In the spare room. They never go in there and everything is in boxes or bags so couldn't spot it easily. Ds (6) wouldn't go into a bag but dd probably would given the chance. Will need to find new place next year, used to put them in garage when we had one.

I also have an Ottoman style bed so the majority goes in there. Failing that I use the top shelves in my wardrobes (hidden behind other stuff) or on top inside the suitcases.

Stuff does sometimes get left in the car boot too until it can be safely brought in, but one year the window seal leaked and the box for DD's toy kitchen got ruined. I was so annoyed and thought she would be disappointed as it looked terrible. She didn't even notice in her excitement to open it on Christmas morning Grin

When I bought the DC bikes one year, I asked a neighbour (no children at home) to store them, and totally forgot about them. I got a knock on the door late on christmas eve- "won't you be needing these for the morning?" Ooops!

It's easier now DS is older as his presents are markedly smaller and more expensive
When he was smaller I had lots of hidey holes, now we live in a tiny cottage I'm glad we're past the stage of giant boxes :o

On top of our wardrobe. There is always a jumble of boxes and general random stuff up there, so couple of extra plastic bags doesn't look out of place.
