Any ideas please? She's getting a laptop soon with some inheritance money (we currently just have a shared one for the house) and has a phone already. She is not at all girly and her main interests are drawing, watching sci-fi and horror films and playing the guitar. Am currently completely without ideas!

Cheers.

Oops sorru

How about a subscription to love film/netflix for a month so she can watch films on her laptop?

Box set of big bang theory, or other tv series she likes?

Funky headphones or new speakers for listening to music on?

Super comfy slippers?

Something fun like this?

She's not interested in art galleries tbh - just in her own stuff. Tickets and vouchers all good ideas, but again, would really like a few 'real' things.

Yes to slippers! Brilliant idea.

Is she into cooking/food? What about something like a waffle maker.

A framed print of the artwork for her favourite film to go on bedroom wall.

I was going to say artwork.

I got DS1 some Andy Warhol retro bedding one year.

Bits and bobs to make over her bedroom.

Some really nice pyjamas

A camera

Coupon · 05/11/2013 20:40

Arty stationery, folders, notebooks etc?

scratchandsniff · 05/11/2013 20:41

Get to an H&M they always have plenty of stocking fillers such as good choice of scarves, hats, gloves, basic tops, hair bands, hoodies, bags, underwear etc. Should be able to find something for a non girly girl in there

notagiraffe · 05/11/2013 20:43

OP are you near London? In Spitalfields they do graffiti walks and workshops which end in making a piece of street art.

You could sign her up for some art classes in a specific area of art that interests her - life drawing or oil painting etc.

An easel?

A carry case for her new second-hand laptop? Some memory sticks for it?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/11/2013 20:44

Mary - she will deffo get her bag of crap: new PJs, knickers, socks, face wash and deodorant etc. I would like her to have something a bit more special too though.

The graphics tablet thing actually looks right up her street - will deffo investigate that.

If she's into horror, start looking for some classics like evil dead etc by arrow video. They're limited edition, come with slip cases and my DP goes crazy for them (he's a horror nerd fan)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/11/2013 20:46

She'll be having a new laptop - she has a bit of money from her grandad and wants to use it to buy one. A case is a good idea, as are memory sticks. Excellent!

Tess - some recommendations would be great, although she and dp already have lots. Would prefer them to be 15s rather than 18s unless they are old fashioned 18s!

Could you do an IOU - buy her a monopoly set and put a note in it saying you'll help plan a special weeken in London - or somewhere closer - to do and see things she likes?

notagiraffe · 05/11/2013 20:52

sorry Remus, - misread your first post. A new laptop is such a lovely thing to have. And I think it's lovely that she's not greedy. She sounds really likeable.

notagiraffe · 05/11/2013 20:53

Laptop cases can be quite expensive. You can get them from 99p store, but strong ones with handles and pouches for extra bits and pieces can cost a fair bit, so it would be a decent present.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/11/2013 20:56

Aww thank you, Giraffe. She's deffo her own person - she's v different to me, and I sometimes find it a bit hard to 'get' her, but I do want her to have a nice Christmas, as she does love Christmas, just doesn't love 'stuff' much. When she was 9 or so, all she wanted was some chocolate and a new hot water bottle!

She's a bit of a homebody too. I love to take her on a trip to London, but she'd usually rather stay at home tbh, or just be with her friends.

Some nice ideas on here though, so thank you everybody.

Honestly, have a peruse of arrow, I'll get the link. They're old 18's so closer to 15's most definitely. Bare with me.

TessCackle · 05/11/2013 21:38

Arrow

TessCackle · 05/11/2013 21:39

I'm sorry I can't recommend more, my DP is the horror buff, I'm a big wuss!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 05/11/2013 21:51

Thanks, Tess - me too! I'll get dp to check the link out.

How about some ticket master vouchers? Them she can use them to buy tickets whenever she wants to go to a gig?

OneLittleLady · 05/11/2013 22:26

Japanese/korean horror DVDs? There's some really good ones like Ring that are 15s.

The Waco Bamboo drawing tablets someone up thread suggested upthread are really good, I've got one for my son for christmas.

Band t-shirts? Doctor Who box sets? the new Doctor who 50th anniversary book? Guitar effects pedals and leads if she has an electric or acoustic electric guitar? Fancy plectrums for the guitar?

ChristmasBitchNigel · 05/11/2013 22:53

Does she play acoustic or electrc guitar ? If she plays electric what about a new amp/case ? Groupon are doing the Rock Star package for a year at 12.99 if that would float her boat.
