Any ideas please? She's getting a laptop soon with some inheritance money (we currently just have a shared one for the house) and has a phone already. She is not at all girly and her main interests are drawing, watching sci-fi and horror films and playing the guitar. Am currently completely without ideas!

Cheers.

Would she like a big snuggly throw or arty type quilt for her bed?

drinkyourmilk · 05/11/2013 23:21

What about a telescope and book about the night sky?

drinkyourmilk · 05/11/2013 23:23

Lava lamp? Fish tank?

RubyRR · 05/11/2013 23:30

You can buy £5 gift cards for cinema if she goes with friend, stick it on a bag of popcorn etc. amazon voucher? Audio CDs or a membership to audible.co.uk so she could listen to books on laptop whilst working. She sounds lovely by the way

RubyRR · 05/11/2013 23:32

Me again, what about a cake mix. Nothing to fancy unless she likes baking, Betty Crocker make a lovely brownie mix, add few eggs, water and bit of oil, mix and cook in the tray they provide.priced about £2

Clobbered · 05/11/2013 23:34

Is she into cooking? You can get some great gadgets for making cupcakes, popcakes etc at Lakeland plus all the sprinkles etc for decorating. My teen DD loves all that stuff.

miggy · 05/11/2013 23:40

I feel your pain, sounds like my 14 yr old. Last year we did bedroom furniture, this year new laptop for Xmas and birthday.
Last year all she actually asked for was one of those long Jaffa cake tubes!
I tend to buy her a few clothes, more expensive than she would normally let me buy, and I think secretly she likes them ( wears them anyway!). Nice onesies or fluffy pjs ( primarc usually have a nice selection)
Make up of the essential kind, lip balm sort of stuff
Would she like a box set tv show, dd and I currently loving ploughing through being human from the first episode, might appeal if she likes horror, scifi
Other box sets similar would be dolls house, firefly, buffy

Onefewernow · 05/11/2013 23:41

My 17 yr old just spent some money on fleecy pyjamas, new short ugg style slippers and one of those furry throws in red.

BeCoolFucker · 05/11/2013 23:54

Money.
iTunes vouchers.

OneUp · 06/11/2013 00:23

New guitar if her's is a beginners one? When I was sixteen and learning the guitar I would have loved a decent one for Christmas.

If you're going to get a graphics pad this one is good. I got the recomendation off of an arty friend when I bought mine and I've found it to be very good and it comes with software.

MindyWiller · 06/11/2013 01:15

Mum bought my teenage sister some expensive top-end earphones for her birthday recently if she is into music.

Your daughter sounds quite similar to my sister, lovely Smile

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/11/2013 17:03

Thank you all.

It's a (new last Christmas) acoustic guitar, and she has zillions of fancy plectrums for it. Will deffo get a strap and maybe a case though.

We've done the cooking stuff before.

A new throw, earphones and a graphic tablet thing are all serious contenders. :)

Does she has a metronome or a tuner device?

ELR · 06/11/2013 20:32

Brand new £50 note

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/11/2013 21:03

If she's v lucky, she will get money from my parents. She's got a tuner thingie - not sure she'd know what to do with/use a metronome.

People who have recommended boxsets - thank you. I'll google them - never heard of any of them except Dr Who (which she doesn't like).

What about one of those plectrum makers? The ones where you can press your own plectrums out of plastic, old credit cards, etc.

Hadmeathello · 06/11/2013 22:24

She sounds quite similar to my DD1. She plays guitar but got a ukulele 2 years ago for her birthday and absolutely loves it. Plays it more than the guitar now. Would that be any good?

traininthedistance · 06/11/2013 22:26

Some nice boots? I hear Doc Martens are cool again with all the 90s retro stuff. I loved the blue DMs I got for Christmas when I was 17!

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 06/11/2013 22:41

How about a decent folder with plastic wallets for her artwork? She could use it in the future if she wants to study art at some point.

AngryFeet · 06/11/2013 22:59

We have bought this 3D pen. Hope it comes out in time for xmas though. Looks very cool www.the3doodler.com/welcome-3doodler/

AngryFeet · 06/11/2013 23:00

Sorry bought the pen for DD as she is also very artistic. Missed that bit out :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/11/2013 18:10

She's got a uke and had new boots at the weekend, as she only had her Converse and it keeps raining!
