Decorations up no sooner than the 12th of December! Taken down on the 31st of December.

I love having tree up but it does tend to look a bit tired if it goes up too soon Smile

MerylStrop · 05/11/2013 16:31

At Christmas

Which is in about 7 weeks time

No objection to sparkly lights etc through November but no tree till school's out.

Frettchen · 05/11/2013 16:39

29th November, which seems too early, but that's this year's date. Ever since moving into my own place I've had a mini family gathering the first weekend in Dec (my parents, at different times; this year Dad's coming for lunch and Mum's coming to dinner, as well as my sister and my best friend and her family) and I like to festive it up for the occasion - decorations up, cinnamon rolls in the oven etc.
I love seeing other people's Christmas lights on my way home from work, and will probably start adding Christmas songs to my playlists from that weekend. I know it's not for everyone, but it makes me happy Smile

The evening of the 30th November. Always do it then ready for DC to wake up the next day and see it all with the EOTS.

Doitnicelyplease · 05/11/2013 18:18

We are prob doing ours Sunday 8th Dec, I don't like to be too early but we are going away from the 21st so would like so enjoy our decorations for a bit first.

I believe if you do Christmassy things too early (ie going to see Santa in November/v early Dec) it must make the wait for Christmas Day excruciating for young children!

Where we are they do a Santa parade on Nov 16 - it's too early and feels cruel to turn around to kids and say well Christmas isn't for another 6 weeks (an eternity when you are 5!).

WallyBantersJunkBox · 05/11/2013 18:41

Doitnicely - I think that's why Advent Calendars are so popular - helps rationalize the countdown! Grin

mumtoone1 · 05/11/2013 18:44

I normally put mine up the first weekend in December but Sunday 1st is just too early for me so if I can wait long enough I think i'll do it on Sunday 8th.

Normally i'll take it down about 3rd January

HolgerDanske · 05/11/2013 22:45

I am holding out till 1st of Dec Smile

Taffeta · 05/11/2013 22:48

14 Dec

spicegirl13 · 05/11/2013 22:57

My SIL put hers up on 31st October, one if them anyway, apparently the other one will go up next week?! She's already talking about dusting the baubles, nutter Hmm

paperlantern · 05/11/2013 23:12

nicename - a fake tree you can strategically leave off branches from the back. you can also get flat backed trees that do the same thing.

Probably Sunday the first..... I need somewhere to put all the presentsGrin

ChristmasCareeristBitchNigel · 05/11/2013 23:18

2nd weekend of December here :)

lookout · 06/11/2013 08:42

1st December until twelfth night. I'm having Tribble waiting until even then! Houses look so lovely when they're Christmas decorated, I like to appreciate that for as long as possible! And it is only a limited time anyway! I'm even gonna start taking stock of my decorations this weekend so I can get any new bits if necessary! I am so excited Grin

Rubybrazilianwax · 06/11/2013 15:31

I usually put mine up on the 8th. Its a holy day and our school closes that day and dc are off too. Although it takes me days to get all the decorations up. I dont do my fresh foilage decorating and the real tree until a week before though

BaconAndAvocado · 06/11/2013 21:37

1st December, which falls on a Sunday so we'll make a day of it with Christmas crafts and bakes, I'm so very excited!!

BonaDea · 06/11/2013 21:39

I usually put ours up the last weekend before Christmas unless it is the Monday in which case the weekend before. It is faaaaaaar more Christmassy that way. We have a real tree, too, so it lasts much better that way.

FixItUpChappie · 06/11/2013 23:27

I think I'm going to aim for Sunday Dec 8th - enough time to enjoy the tree, ambiance and effort. I''ll take it down right after new years as it will also be plenty of time to get exasperated with defending it from a baby and toddler.

I'm gobsmacked at Dec 24th!!....that doesn't seem long enough to enjoy it - but horses for courses and all that of course Grin
