Christmas Wrapping

What style are you going for this year? I'm looking for inspiration.

Any recommendations for reasonably priced, reasonable quality paper?

When you wrap the kids' presents from FC, do you use one pattern boring but practical, no muddling up or a selection of papers aesthetically pleasing but there's always one that ends up in the wrong sack

Is the paper with grid lines worth it (and if so, where sells it?) when you're wrapping and a bit squiggly after one Cinzano too many

If you don't want to spend hours addictively planning what bits and bobs you will need for your wrapping then I would advise NOT searching for Christmas wrapping on Pinterest...just saying...

I always use Boots wrapping paper - get it on 3 for 2. I bought in the January sales for this Xmas and will do the same again this time so will always be a year behind IYSWIM

Good quality and nice designs (IMO)

Aldi wrapping paper is amazing, it has grid lines (dont get the packs which include ribbon, this is the cheap flimsy crap, you want the individual rolls) lots of nice designs and plain ones too.
Plus cheap!

I tend to buy M&S and Next in sales or on 342.
For DS stocking gifts his fave colour bright shade from Wilkinsons (bought about 20 rolls last year !) after he had watched the video from PNP and asked whether Father Christmas Elves would know to use that colour for his gifts. I printed out some Elf stickers with his name on and from FC etc and he loved it. Intend to do the same this year. For others just use a mix of all the wrapping paper I have bought with lots of bows and ties and some silver jangly bells.

This year we are wrapping everything in brown paper with red and white ribbons.

I have bought a lot of original vintage wrapping paper from the 60s and 70s. I LOVE it so much. I have great memories of choosing single sheets of similar designs from our local newsagent in the 70s...to wrap my little gifts in...and these are just gorgeous. A bit...different sure...but I don't care. Not sure if I can bear to use them though!

I think I will use them but snip a little off each to use in handmade decorations so I'll always have a memory of them!

I just use brown parcel paper and a nice ribbon (bought cheaply from the local haberdashery)

Looks very tasteful, but very cheap

I might do that a bit too Beaver I got some gorgeous festive ribbon cheap last week....it's got pics of holly etc on it...and is wide and lovely. Some brown, beribboned parcels will look lovely among my BRIGHT vintage prints. I might even do some little "corsarges" to pop on top!

I do brown paper and ribbon or butcher's twine. I also love ikea's wrapping paper, which I'll put ribbons around too, for a bit of variety.

Oh gosh, I love gift wrapping. I often do the brown paper and red and white ribbons thing, but like to vary it. My favourite so far has been Tiffany blue with white ribbons and vintage-style Alice in Wonderland-esque tags.

Not sure what I'll do this year but here is my Pinterest board if anybody is interested!

for anyone who is interested, Tesco have red and white four packs of curling ribbons for 40p a pack at the minute

Another one for brown paper. I'm going use a ball of white wool instead of ribbon (much cheaper) and make little snowball pom poms to tie on. I'm then going to add little sprigs on pine from the tree. I've also bought a letter stamp set to personalise some matching parcel/gift tags.

Hmmm - I may have too much time on my hands ...

I normally use different paper for each DC, but I think I'm going to go for the brown paper idea now and I'll just put different ribbons on :)

Ooh, I just had a peek at your lovely Pinterest board, Remus and love the idea of adding candy canes. You can pick pick up packs of 10 in the £1 shops ...

So with you. I always thought the thin, almost tissue paper wrapping was the best as you could sometimes, almost, peek through as they lay under the tree. Also the ripping off was brilliant as there had to be layers(asit was thin).
The hard glossy paper of today is no fun by comparison.

I bought 4 rolls of Costco paper (in a silver tone but different patterns)

There are 4 of us so I can use a different paper for each.
And now that my DC are getting older, their presents are getting smaller - so less paper.

And it has the grids on the back.

Good Sellotape in a dispenser so that you're not constantly picking at the end.

Good scissors.

I wrap on the ironing board , it's a good height.

And - the Card Factory has money wallets £1 for 7. Bargain.

DS will have money, DD wants a New Look or Primark Gift Voucher.

WHSmiths have good quality paper with gridlines on the 3 for 2 offer. Lots of different patterns and styles to fit everybodys taste.

I use the Costco stuff too. It is great quality and has the grid lines

Crumb Candy canes look cute - I did them a few years ago, with brown paper and red and white ribbons.

For young children, a page from a comic book, bright ribbon and one of those party blower things looks nice (or a lollipop!).

Except for stockings - Santa has tissue paper nowadays.

I bought my wrapping paper today, last years House of Fraser designs for £1.50 (from £5!). I always choose a two colour theme and accessorise - in the past it has been mini decorations, silver or red bells, candy canes or chocolate tree decs attached to the ribbon. I think my favourite was the parcel paper and ribbon combo but I did that a couple of years ago so probably won't repeat for a while.

Santa obviously has different paper to Mummy and Daddy...

Brown paper (cheap from card factory). Red and gold ribbon (99p from the works for a roll). Still on the lookout for tags!
