Christmas Wrapping

What style are you going for this year? I'm looking for inspiration.

Any recommendations for reasonably priced, reasonable quality paper?

When you wrap the kids' presents from FC, do you use one pattern boring but practical, no muddling up or a selection of papers aesthetically pleasing but there's always one that ends up in the wrong sack

Is the paper with grid lines worth it (and if so, where sells it?) when you're wrapping and a bit squiggly after one Cinzano too many

When in doubt I do prezzies wrapped in gold paper (£1.99) on everything. No one ever complains and everyone knows who it is off Grin

For the kids I use a different colour each but a selection of patterns in that colour, eg pink for dd2 and red or blue for dd1. Saves any wondering about what is for who.

For adults I like to buy nice paper and fancy it up and this year I've got some gift boxes and good tissue paper for some items.

I'll be using what I have left over from last year from here.

I try to use different papers for DD & DS every year. I never use that paper for anyone else. Last year I bought their paper in TK Maxx, before that I've bought it in the cheapy Christmas shops for £1 a roll.

For yet adults this year I have Tom Smith brown paper with Christmassy type patterns on, bought for £5 including ribbons in TK Maxx (spot a pattern Smile). I try to be arty but usually fail miserablySmile

I've not bought wrap for the DCs yet, I'm hoping for something retro & very festive

I bought some lovely sheets from not on the high street, here and a few others. The quality is excellent but you don't get much for your money.
I also ordered some nice paper from a friends Phoenix Cards catalogue (i'm not a seller, honest!) but I have mislaid the bloody stuff and it's driving me crazy!

GooFawkes · 03/11/2013 20:20

Today I bought some paper in Debenhams, metallic purple with small white prancing reindeers.

Still need to buy the "Santa" paper. I have used separate paper for each DC, also one for DS and one or the two DD's.

OurMrsReynolds · 03/11/2013 20:31

This yr i think DD1 will be having vintage look pooh paper and DD2 disney paper. DH gets silver or black paper usually and family I do in shades of red Grin

MooseyMoo · 03/11/2013 20:42

The DC get different Xmas paper. I always buy in the sales so last year I found pink Christmas fairy paper from Sainsburys for 34p a roll for DD and toy soldiers from M&S for DS.

I can't remember the other designs but I use different paper for my family and in-laws. Makes it easier to remember what's for who. I found brown parcel paper in 99p store so bought a few rolls for next year. Might use some for this year for presents to grandparents from DC. I found a little Xmas stamp set in 99p store so will let kids go mad with it and see what it looks like Smile

I'm making my own gift tags using washi tape.

paperchase = wow!

Maryann1975 · 03/11/2013 22:31

Another one who does a roll of wrapping paper for each dc. To complicated to keep stuff separate and I would end up with gift tags falling off, presents in the wrong stockings etc. other presents get a variety of paper depending on the person, but normally it's high street/supermarket stuff.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 03/11/2013 22:57

ooh just had a look at M&s they have two great ones for DC, nostalgis santa and christmas in london.

everydayaschoolday · 04/11/2013 00:37

I got mine from the Royal British Legion online Poppy Shop. £3.99 for 6 sheets (50x70cm each) plus 10 matching tags. It was quick delivery and paper is good quality and thick. Lots of other nice things in there, but the link will take you to the wrapping paper:

And I got the kids cheap santa wrap from JFT (not available online). A 10m roll was £1.30.

Where possible I go for 2 colours, I think this year might be red and gold as last year I spent hundreds on wooden toy tree decorations and more traditional stuff.

So, my presents will be wrapped up as red foil/shiny paper with gold ribbon for husband, and all mates will be gold shiny paper with red ribbon, or vice versa.

Family will be John Lewis gift wrapping service from their online ordering as most pressies come from there via Internet order as I live abroad. Any that i send back with parents when they visit will be wrapped however mum wants to wrap them, so that they're not taking wrapped stuff through customs.
