Last year around November Toys R Us had a 25% off weekend. Does anyone know if this is a regular thing?

Whoneedstosleep, sorry I don't know about Nov sales. But I remember they had an end of summer sale around aug/sep with significant discounts (50%?).

My so called pashminas arrived. Do take them out of the packet and check them carefully if you have bought them. They were shocking. Holes, stains, and one packed wet so still slightly damp and reeking of mould. They are not made from pashmina wool - manufacturer claims they are 100% viscose which is easy to overlook on the site - in the event mine were a mix of even cheaper fibres and not even viscose. Now they are demanding I have to pay return postage even though they are damaged. Moral? If something sounds to good to be true it probably is. I've reported this to Amazon but they said they couldn't help as they were sold by a company called Kuldip UK. Last time I buy from Amazon Marketplace.

The pashmina reviews are VERY varied.
I think it's the luck of the draw by the looks of things.
Maybe some colours are better than others /

I only ordered one Pashmina and for the price its great. After reading the reviews I thought it would be awful so was pleasantly surprised.

Well my pashminas arrived and the navy and pale yellow were okay. The coral one was a very insipid colour and had a wee mark on them. I chucked the navy and coral one in the wash with some dark towels and the coral one came out with dark dye on it, I guess from the navy one. So I just binned it as it was the least nice one and i don't think the colour was true to the photo on Amazon anyway. The navy one is drying in the sun and looks fab. I'm going to wash the pale yellow one and hopefully it'll be okay. It's a lovely colour.

They come with quite sticky 'made in India, 100% viscose' labels. They come off but pull a little bit at the threads, but a wash seems to 'close' these back up.

They seem soft enough and didn't smell too bad, but a wash should soften them up and neutralise any odour.

So I guess it can be a bit hit or miss. But for the price if a bus fare, it's worth the gamble.

I think given the fact that about 25% of their stuff is crap from the reviews, and they don't give refunds, they are pulling a fast one.

Report
Sleepyfergus · 07/06/2013 22:56

Oh I agree Boffin, and I dislike it intensely. I'm sorry yours were rubbish, and I'm thankful that at least one of mine (still to wash the yellow one!) is okay. It's disgraceful they don't do refunds or acknowledge people complaints - Amazon should take a firmer stance with them if they are using Amazons website to peddle their wares.

Yes it is easy to think that Amazon is by nature safer than eBay, but with the marketplace it's not :(

DH and I have been burned a couple of times buying online, I am now really paranoid careful about checking reviews/feedback etc.

But then how did this company (assuming I'm looking at the correct link above) get over 200 reviews - maybe they were selling more expensive ones (as the RRP is nearly a tenner) to get loads of decent reviews and then switched to crappy ones and put the price down? Ugh. Bastards.

Well I will pursue this for the greater good I think, as I think they are crooks. Small Claims Court next stop.

got an email for free delivery on book people site - ends tonight. code 99DEL

(I had been increasing my basket to get the £25 minimum for free delivery, which I could not really justify, so I might just get a couple of bits instead as it's DD's birthday soon...)

Hohoho, Amazon gave me a full refund as part of their A-Z guarantee scheme, and they are investigating the nasty scarf people (who incidentally had also been sending me unpleasant and confrontational emails in the meantime). They were really good about it all, actually.
