Ooh guitargirl I like the sound of the Xmas shop... I'm in town early next month for an appt and might have to swing by! I need two more stockings for a start.

70s - it's only the male in laws that wear trackies, mil does make an effort!! To be fair, the closest they come to dressing up is wearing jeans!

I bought a Christnas magazine the other day, what a waste of money. It was just one big advert. That's £4 I'll never see again. I don't why I bothered as between Pinterest and my Nigella Christmas book I've got plenty inspiration not that I've ever made anything out of nigella book

But I did find my mums Studio Christmas book, it's fab!! Loads of decorations, and found a Jake and the Pirates suitcase which I know ds will love. My mum is going to get him that, and is getting dd a personalised swim bag and towel.

aaaaaand it's pouring down.

Autumn today.

BiddyPop · 13/10/2013 09:33

I've booked both panto (evening show Mon before Christmas) and American football next summer as family presents this week. And found a bag of sports gear I'd got for DD in June for Christmas, so that's now with all the bits. I must tell the 2 families (DH and mine) about panto so they can go as well if they want, but booking themselves. But by booking evening, I am hoping that grandparents and a couple of aunts, uncles might be interested, but the small cousins won't be able to (they run riot) and DD is now old enough to really enjoy a special night out as long as we have a gentle day on the Eve.

BiddyPop · 13/10/2013 09:43

Sorry DD interrupted me. I got the M&S food book on Friday, and DD was reading it yesterday, but DH having scoffed fri on commuter train home (we travelled together for a change) took it off her yesterday when we were having lunch out and was a bit interested, and talked about where to eat (and got me to agree to be the driver for the day, I was suckered!!).

But somewhat redeemed himself at the M&S checkout getting a couple of bits for dinner by suggesting I could get a box of mince pies!! Could set a dangerous precedent as I have made far too careful a study of the various options over recent autumn/winters in my office, but I was hoping to get waistline better controlled this year.

I am making good progress on the buying, we have dd nearly sorted between us, and most already sent to mil for safekeeping. I have ordered DH,s main gift. And I have gathered lots for the grown ups. Dd is working on craft presents for her cousins. So I need DH,s siblings, fil, finish my dad, a few more bits for a shared hamper for my aunts and uncles, and the KK person of my siblings, but we,re doing the draw for that next weekend at dad,s 65th birthday and retirement celebrations. And a couple of kiddie presen, I have about half sorted there for nieces and nephews.

This is a record for me, I'm never up this late!!

LentilAsAnything · 16/10/2013 13:05

Ten weeks? Eek, it is going fast.

I think maybe I should start buying rather than holding off (hoping to move before Xmas, not sure it will happen though). I know I have time, but I like to feel a bit more organised. Though things are in my Amazon/ELC etc baskets, ready to buy. Really not sure where we'd hide anything big though.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/10/2013 17:31

Once the schools half term is done (and Hallowe'en + Guy Fawkes) it'll be Full Belt into Festive Mode.

I need to do some serious Stocking Gift Buying for DS (he has a December birthday too) and usually we give him X-Box games, Young Driver Lessons and money (he loves money, little scrooge) Grin

I've got loads of little gifts for DD (she's no trouble to buy for)

buzzgirly · 17/10/2013 07:41

69!!!

I have got all of dcs presents. I don't bother with stockings everything goes into a huge Santa sack.

fuzzpig · 17/10/2013 09:43

70is, did you find a colouring book for DD yet? Just realised I totally forgot to come back and link to some Blush

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/10/2013 19:03

I bought her some nice Staedler pens from The Range.
I had a look on Ebay (being very very careful what I typed in Grin)

They had some Flower Fairies books that she might like.

And a few Karma Sutra Colouring In Books that she wouldn't like Blush

Guitargirl · 17/10/2013 19:31

70is - I came across this and this the other day which I was thinking about getting for my Mum. I found them on that site but Amazon do them cheaper than that. Usborne also do colouring books for older children I think - something like this?

fuzzpig · 17/10/2013 19:36

I used staedler pens for the first time yesterday at an art class, they are lovely!

I was quite shocked the first time I saw what explicit colouring books were available :o

fuzzpig · 17/10/2013 19:38

this one looks quite nice

fuzzpig · 17/10/2013 19:41

also like the look of this one - there are a few based on different cultures, if there's any particular time she's interested in?

I'm off to look at those flower fairy ones.

fuzzpig · 17/10/2013 19:43

Aww, searched on amazon and one of the hits was this Shrinkles set - I had this when I was little!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/10/2013 21:23

Thanks fuzzpig there's a few really good ones on those links.
The Egyptian one looks really good (they did Egyptian history in Juniors) .
Last Christmas I got books from Waterstones (one Buy One Get One Half Price) that were puzzle and colouring.
They really liked them.

She used to read the "Star the Night Fairy/ Hannah the Hamster Fairy" books.
So Fairy ones might suit her.

DH bought her a Dynamo Biography (her favourite TV star)

Now that we're under 10 weeks, people are starting to talk about it openly here.

Not a lot more done, as I had to sort 6 birthday presents, a new house present and a retirement present this week, and cards for all those too. Currently lying with minor hangover after dad's retirement bash last night, family clan gathering tonight for that and his 65 the birthday BBQ at home, so I need the rest. It will be a late finish!

DH heads off again tomorrow, but his present arrived midweek so I can wrap that now. And I found dd,s Christmas Day outfit, new sparkly reindeer top in M&S but she already has both black and red trousers to wear with it. And a jumper for me, I think, in next.

I can,t find cards yet though, and I had hoped to write a few on my own work trip next week. Just have to do lists instead I suppose.
