I want to know what you're eating on Christmas day.

I love to hear about the food.

HintofBream thanks for the Lidl heads up. There's one near me so I shall investigate this weekend. I haven't had raclette for about 20 years, since I lived in Germany.

There was a nice recipe in this morning's Metro for devils on horseback which consisted of prunes soaked for 24 hours in Armagnac, then stuffed with stilton, rolled in pancetta and oven cooked for about 5 mins. Sounds delish, have added that to the Christmas menu!

So many lovely menus here & I love the differences as much as the traditions, (& too need raclette now), thanks all for sharing, I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas & some fabulous food - I can' wait.

LuLa, I do hope Lidl still has the cheese. I shall feel very bad if I have blighted your Christmas with unachievable ambitions. You have to keep your eye open and grab (lots of) it when it's in. It keeps for ages.

About the raclette cheese - Sainsbury's here used to have it, and then stopped a year ago Xmas Sad. Waitrose still have it (on the cheese counter), but I have found that Jarlsberg cheese (buy it ready-sliced) makes an acceptable substitution and is more widely available so thats' what we tend to have now when the kids clamour for another raclette session!

Ah, thanks Bream but don't worry - I've waited 20 years, a little longer won;t hurt!

Breakfast will probably be cinnamon buns (if I can be bothered to do them on christmas eve) or sainsburys pain au choc if I can't!

Lunch will be a starter of smoked salmon with prawns, horseradish cream and lime vinaigrette which I've never tried before. I'm going to get some pate and crusty bread in case it doesn't work.

Main will be -
turkey
roasties
bread sauce
cranberry sauce
cauliflower cheese
mashed swede and carrot
pigs in blankets
gravy
stuffing

For pudding I completely forgot about a christmas cake or pudding so I'm either going to make or buy a yule log. I'm not too fond of them but can't think what else would please everyone. I'm also going to make some prosecco jelly if I can find a recipe.

Later we'll just nibble on leftovers and chocolate.
