Does anyone know anything about DS games?

I want to buy the new Professor Layton game, but so far can only see it for the 3DS. I only have a regular DS (and won't buy a 3DS because I can't see them. Turns out you need good vision in both eyes otherwise they don't work Hmm).

Anyway what I want to know is will a 3DS game work on my DS. And if not is there a regular DS version of the game. Preferably for the £20 that Amazon has the other on for!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/10/2012 20:46

3DS games don't work on a DS, they have a little sticky out bit on the side which means they don't fit in the slot.

accessorizequeen · 28/10/2012 20:48

You really don't need the book & toy deal, some people make their elves for pennies. and there's loads of ideas and things to down load for free. The gund ones came on amazon on and off last year, I kept checking too, eBay as well until I got one!

Taffraid · 28/10/2012 20:49

oreo - try Game, they sell second hand, or ebay

Taffraid · 28/10/2012 20:49

Oh I just noticed you said the new one. Oops

Looby12 · 28/10/2012 20:55

oreo I don't think it is available on normal DS which I am disappointed about as well.

oreocrumbs · 28/10/2012 20:59

Argh, but I neeeed it. It has been my christmas present for the last frew years, it's become a tradition!

I really really don't want to have to buy a 3ds - entirely pointless for me as I will only see it in 2d. Does this mean they are phasing out regular versions of games?

Well that's me in a sulk now!

ScorpionQueen · 28/10/2012 21:08

Penguin, while not exactly a bargain, DD was overjoyed with a £10 Claire's voucher last year and got quite a lot with it in the sale. She is 11.

BuffyFairy · 28/10/2012 21:12

everyday thanks for the digital photo key ring link. I've just ordered 12! That sorts the grandparents, great grandparents and uncles presents from dd.

everydayaschoolday · 28/10/2012 21:12

Maybeamaybaby Disney christmas DVD box set £3 (no delivery charge) link is on Reastie's OP list. Amazon advertises that it is a boxset of 4 DVDs, but some of the pictures and reviews hint at it being one DVD. Still avail to order, and Amazon Customer Services told me on the phone this afternoon that it is 4 DVDs. If anyone is unsure whether to go for it, I should get mine delivered this week and I will post on here precisely what is included and whether I think it's worth the £3. Smile

everydayaschoolday · 28/10/2012 21:15

glad the keyring link went down well Smile.

Naghoul · 28/10/2012 21:20

did you forget the EXTRA 40% off body shop code? I've just availed myself of that :)

I made elves for shelves as gifts last year :) If you are all on about it again I'm going to put one or two on ebay [hwink]

PebblePots · 28/10/2012 21:22

Naghoul please do and let me know - I have some friends who would probably be interested :-)

mummymccar · 28/10/2012 21:31

Is anybody else having problems with the WHSmith website? Tried to order those fantastic keyrings but when I click on the 'pay' part (last screen!) it does nothing. Went back to try again and it said that it couldn't register my card this time.
Any clues?
Thanks to Reastie for such a great thread - you've saved me loads!

Taffraid · 28/10/2012 21:33

Naghoul's elves are the business [hgrin]

mummymccar · 28/10/2012 21:35

ooh I added one more to my bag and it worked - obviously just a ploy to get me to spend more Wink

Bigwheel · 28/10/2012 21:35

Whsmith site wouldn't take my payment for some reason, kept trying and it kept refusing.

MistressIggi · 28/10/2012 21:36

Breadandhoney - thank you for the tip, have ordered one of those drum things, and got 5% off with a code from Reastie's first post. Smile
Spent ages choosing another gift, from Joules, only for it to go out of stock and vanish from my basket!

Arithmeticulous · 28/10/2012 21:37

Ebay has lots of elves, or pixies - TKMaxx also has things that can be used as.

Couple more hours on the Literacy Gift Company 10% off (Fallback)
