Playmobil 2012

Last night a kind MNer directed me to a half price pyramid on Toys R Us. They have a special offer running, you spend £45 on Playmobil, and they throw in a free Playmobil Advent calendar, so I ordered a random sperm whale with boat (£10) thinking it would make a good stocking filler.

After googling, I've discovered the whale is 30cm long Shock, so it has become one of the 'big' presents for my two year old Grin. And you can buy a motor for the boat

I'm sure that last year there was a Playmobil thread, where long suffering people who know all about Playmobil could have their brains picked about things like how long the school takes to build.

So here is this years. Grin

(I think the school took hours by the way.)

Well, after researching and finding out the Jet Pane was 64cms... I went for the private jet on ToysRus!

Got the plane, harbour cafe. airport bus (123) and free advent calendar all for £50!

Also ordered the Huge Zoo from Boots for £53!

Free delivery on both too

Both bought on the Clubcard!

Very excited

Can anyone tell me whether the campervan might fit onto the ferry? The playmobil people fancy a holiday abroad this year Grin

Does anyone have the Mammoth Cave/Ice Age Hunter set? DS1 (nearly 5) is very very into mammoths and Neanderthals (I blame the Littlenose books, which my mum unearthed for him) and he has no idea of the existence of this stuff, which is very exciting for me. We've got him the big cave, my mum has got him the mammoth bone tent set and a couple more mammoths (can never have too many!) and I got him a Shamen for his stocking. Grin I'm stupidly excited about archaeological Playmobil.

But all this talk about pre-building is worrying me. I wouldn't pre-assemble Lego - are there really too many fiddly bits in the prehistoric cave set?

We don't have the mammoth cave stuff, but I was amazed at how long it took to build the pirate ship. I thought, it's just a ship with some sails to attach, how long will it take? In your shoes, I'd be tempted to build the cave so he can play with it immediately, giving you time to assemble the other sets to go with it.
