Playmobil 2012

Last night a kind MNer directed me to a half price pyramid on Toys R Us. They have a special offer running, you spend £45 on Playmobil, and they throw in a free Playmobil Advent calendar, so I ordered a random sperm whale with boat (£10) thinking it would make a good stocking filler.

After googling, I've discovered the whale is 30cm long Shock, so it has become one of the 'big' presents for my two year old Grin. And you can buy a motor for the boat

I'm sure that last year there was a Playmobil thread, where long suffering people who know all about Playmobil could have their brains picked about things like how long the school takes to build.

So here is this years. Grin

(I think the school took hours by the way.)

For those with the pyramid set - scooby doo and where's my mummy is on Wednesday at 9 on cbbc - I've just set it to record :)

We have a large castle and a fort and Ive just sold a second castle!!

Recommend getting it second hand because you tend to get a lot of extra knights etc although tesco has a large one on offer at moment (89.99) and there is £10 off code on these site as well.

barefootcook · 26/10/2012 09:45

My DS 3 loves the rescue boat and car and helicopter. They do have some small parts but nothing like some of the bigger building type Play Mobile toys. He got the helicopter for his second birthday and still plays with it a lot. The boat works well in the bath.

izzywizzyisbizzy · 26/10/2012 09:46

make that 79.97 and of course it's in the 3 for 2 - minus the £10 and it's £69.97 Which makes it a good buy.

barefootcook · 26/10/2012 09:49

Sorry, I forgot- they didn't take that long to put together but I still wouldn't wait until Christmas morning.

izzywizzyisbizzy · 26/10/2012 10:00

ignore me it can be bought much cheaper elsewhere

here

We have ordered the grande mansion for dd and all the furniture etc. Is it hard to build? Went on the playmobil website yesterday and ordered the extra floor and lighting set. I am hoping it won't be too bad to put together. We got the hospital last year and that took ages!!!

Tikkabillajive · 26/10/2012 10:37

Sorry ObiWan I have had patchy internet for a couple of days and missed your reply! Have fun with your pyramid!

izzywhizzy thanks SO much for pointing out about the Scooby Doo and the mummy film being on tv - I'd been eyeing up the dvd of it because I'd actually bought a set of Scooby Doo figures for my DCs to sort of go with the Playmobil pyramid! (The figures are completely the wrong scale but I am sure that won't matter!)

Trazzletoes We started with a Playmobil when DD was 3 and a tiny bit (we got her the playground that you can only buy in Toys R Us). I'd say it's the perfect age to start and a lovely thing for your DS to be able to play with in bed. Just checked on your other thread by the way and I'm so glad to hear how positive things are.

fuzzpig · 26/10/2012 12:05

DCs (5 and 3) are getting the lion knights empire castle as their main present. We are ridiculously excited - the DCs may not get a look in...

I'd thought maybe we'd build it on Xmas eve but some colleagues with older children looked at me like I was insane.

I have no idea where we'd hide it though?!

Also as the castle doesn't come with all that many knights or other castley characters does anyone have any recommendations as to where I can get some extras maybe without telling DH :o

DSS has also bought them a playmobil pirate ship as they sell it where he works, they are being spoiled rotten.

Catsdontcare · 26/10/2012 16:30

Ordered the large pirate ship yesterday from toys r us it had £3 off and got the free advent calendar and free delivery. Also managed to get a pack of playmobil ghost pirates for half price from sainsburys so am vvv pleased! Will heed advice to build it before Christmas Day! I remember the swimming pool last year was bad enough!

izzywizzyisbizzy · 26/10/2012 17:03

fuzz me if you are interested in second hand - fluent very clever ebaying and buying and selling I have LOADS!!!!

Or gumtree or netmums or if you want new, there is a Maltese lady (they are made there), who sells them unpackaged (but new) really cheaply - they are unboxed.

I have bought things like mummies, ghosts etc.

izzywizzyisbizzy · 26/10/2012 17:09

There is a playmobil seller - "train-playmobil-supplies" who has loads on BIN maybe worth making a joblot offer as the postage should be pennies for a lot of them.

wornoutbutstillwonderful · 26/10/2012 17:52

Ds's already have the airport, two planes, a flight tower and a holiday transfers coach so for christmas we have added a waterpark, beach, cafe and have just reserved the campervan. They have so much fun making up stories and games with what they already have I can't wait to see their faces christmas morning.

GoingToBedfordshire · 27/10/2012 14:04

Not sure about the castles, but if it is of any use to anyone, Ocado are doing 3 for 2 on selected toys this weekend and there are a few Playmobil sets included in that.

LetUsPrey · 27/10/2012 14:25

DS2 is having the school for his birthday next month - got it half price from Argos a few weeks ago. He's quite happy to see the big box and then wait for me to build it while he plays with his other stuff. Or at least he was last year when he got the fire station.

Various grandparents, aunties and uncles are getting him the fire engine, school woodwork class, the cafeteria, and Christmas market.

He's having the fire boat for Christmas which completes his fire emergency set. I'm tempted by the campervan and the pool with slide too.

daisydoodoo · 27/10/2012 17:59

I can't decide now between the princess castle or the Grande mansion for dd1. She's 6but only just shown any interest in playmobil and Lego and I think she'll play with it rather than more Barbie or monster High dolls.

mercibucket · 27/10/2012 18:04

Just got the suburban house for dd, I like that one better than the grande mansion. I loved the castle but dd mostly plays 'real' games rather than 'princesses' so I think she'll like that more. All so cute :)

daisydoodoo · 27/10/2012 18:51

Not seen that one off for a Google. Another one in the equation now. [Smile]

izzywizzyisbizzy · 27/10/2012 19:00

Re the princess castle - it is nowhere near as robust as the boys one - I am selling DDs at Christmas - she prefers the boy one as it doesn't fall apart so easily.

zipzap · 27/10/2012 20:20

Izzy - have you got details of the Maltese playmobil lady please?

fuzzpig · 27/10/2012 20:30

Yes for me too please :) not sure we will get any more before Xmas but couldn't hurt to know ...

fuzzpig · 27/10/2012 20:32

I decided against the pink one as well, I'm sure they'd both like it but it just looks meh. Besides, they saw the lion knights one on an advert today and were very impressed so hopefully DD won't be bothered about the lack of pink. Hmm

izzywizzyisbizzy · 27/10/2012 20:46

I'm away for a couple of days - when I have some wifi - I'll let you know her eBay ID, maybe next Saturday so keep an eye on the thread then.

I bought angels, fairies, mermaid from her as well as knights - for DD before we bought the princess castle - they play in DS castle - dds pink castle has been in a box in the wardrobe since I bought it for her birthday - she much prefers ds one.

fuzzpig · 27/10/2012 20:49

Thanks :)

mumineedapooooo · 27/10/2012 21:04

there's 20% off playmobil at john Lewis. i don't think its been mentioned yet.

gutted the dragon dungeon is out of stock though.cheapest i could find

stealthsquiggle · 27/10/2012 21:11

The school took DS and I a few hours to build (got it half price from Argos for DD's birthday) but she set up all the stuff inside herself and she loves it.
