What are you doing this Christmas then?

This year on Christmas day it will be me, DH, DS and the dog. We will have nibbles, champagne, the tv, toys and lovely food. We will head out for a walk at somepoint too. No parents to spend it with but I am looking forward to it although will very much miss Australian family.

Boxing day is very different. 16 friends and their families all coming for food. This year I am doing curry. Nice and easy. Usually a good day with wine, a few games on the wii and lots of chat.

New Year we just sleep right through that!

Having a baby (again)

Going to spend Christmas in Australia with my family, first time taking dd4, ds who will be 1 to Austalia, looking forward to a very big family get together at my sisters, boxing day will spent at the cricket watching the first day of the Boxing day test, whilst BIL baby sits also abig family day out.

Just me DH and the cat here, we open our stockings and have breakfast, then start the lunch off while listening to Classic FM. A gentle and relaxed morning, having been to the pub the night before. We have no parents living now and never had siblings. After lunch a quick walk around locally and later have a supper of sorts in front of the TV, cheese and biscuits, trifle, nuts, chocs, dates etc.

DH might go to a football match on Boxing day, we have cold chicken, ham and chutneys with mash and beans for lunch or dinner depending on whether the match is home or away. We don't tend to see a lot of friends over the festive period because they aren't here, gone to parents or grown-up kids, or don't go out because of the visitors they have staying. But have usually seen most of them in the pub on Christmas eve anyway, or whenever has been arranged for the pre-Christmas drink.

Can take or leave New Year. Happy to have a nice meal at home.

Catering lunch for 11 which will mean cooking for 10 and breastfeeding DS due in November.

Nothing too overboard

First year with just DSs and I (STBEx-H left a few months ago) but I will make sure it's lovely. I will have bucks fizz, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs in the morning, followed by present opening, some games, some Christmas TV and then the boys will go to my in-laws house for Christmas dinner. I am determined to plan my afternoon so that I will not be a weeping mess once they have left. I have never seen 'It's a Wonderful Life' all the way through but have been advised against it, so will perhaps watch something upbeat on the box, finish the champagne and have a nap

This year I will be cooking for 10 (+ breast feeding new Ds3 who is arriving in Nov)

It will be myself, DP, 3xDS, my sister, BIL, my 98 yo nan, 2 nieces, 1 nephew.

Traditional mad waking up, frenzy of opening, turkey and trimmings around 1pm, then whatever we cba to squeeze in for dinner.

Not sure about Boxing Day, probably spending with DP's family, not a clue about New Years either.

Me and my hubby will be opening our pressies from each other Christmas morning then will trundle off to see his mum and dad and poss SIL and nieces before heading to my mum and dads for a 3 course Christmas dinner with my DS, BIL and Nan then open presents from everyone else as well then home for supper.

It's our last Christmas together as a couple (I'm due in March) so next year hopefully we will have Xmas dinner at home as a family (where i can eat my weight in pate!) then either go visiting or have everyone over to ours.

No idea as I dont know what I'm working yet

Staying at home, just the 4 of us for the first time ever and i cant wait. Last year was a nightmare with dd2 (ASD) at my dads house so we have decided to do nothing, just have a relaxing day, the dd's can open presents slowlly and dh and i can relax .

Last year was my first christmas dinner that I cooked. Just dh,ds and me for most of the day but then felt like we had to go to SIL ... who had fecking loads of food laid out (1 1/2 hours after lunch) and then got arsey because no one ate anything .

I will be asking telling dh that i would like to do nothing this year bar make dinner and drink!

But I am taking a week off before Christmas to do festive things with dd to make up for it.

So either I will have my feet up in front of a load of old films, refusing to go anywhere or do anything as I'll be 4 days overdue

OR I'll be in newborn DC1 hell, stumbling about attempting to child-rear. Well, keep her fed, warm and rested at least - I'm not aiming high....

DH, me, DS (9) and DD (6). Not sure DS still believes.

But he'll go along with the stockingfest anyway at 6am no doubt , then present opening ( will leave a few for after lunch ), then crank up the Christmas toons have a proper breakfast ( eggs etc ), play with toys (them incl DH ), whilst I slave away in the kitchen open the Prosecco.

DH's parents this year and perhaps mine too if my sister ducks out, which has been known to happen. May also have BIL and new SIL ( squeee!). They rock up around 12. Eat nibbles, drink more Prosecco and wine and then eat lunch around 3pm.

Boxing Day may see my parents if they dont come Christmas Day.

We usually go to the theatre in London between Christmas and New Year as a treat, last year we saw Matilda but there's not much we fancy or is the right date/age suitable for the chidren this year.

We don't do NYE, but have a big party the weekend before Christmas instead when people are well up for getting pissed

Getting up, walking the dogs, nice leisurely bath, then sofa with nibbles, good coffee until about 5 oclock, then prepare a meal (not sure what yet we havn't decided)

DH should be in from work about 6.15, we will wat then the wine and chocolate will come out.

New Years Eve, we will have the a traditional Christmas Dinner, with DS and DDIL, who will get back from Oz the day before, and freinds with their two little girls (the 4 year old I childinded from 6 months til last month and is very much like another DGD)

Prforone - snap except this is my first without ds. Not sure if i am looking forward to the fact that I can do fuck all and ignore the day or be :( about the day being a non-event.

Xmas is at ours with my Mum, Aunt, Borother and sister coming - but they stay at a Premier Inn rather than with us. There will be 8 of us for a traditional day of church, lunch, telly, boardgames, and hopefully a wonderful Downton Xmas special

New Year at friends, kids (24 and 22) will be doing their own thing.

First year I will be cooking xmas dinner. First xmas without my estranged family too :( But Im also having a baby in Nov :)

So we will open santa presents, go to pils for a while to exchange gifts, then DD is going to her dad. And DP, DC2 and me will have dinner at home and be lazy. I will be able to have a whole bottle little bit of wine :o

It would be perfect if DD could stay all day. But cant help that!

i am all panicky over how i'll spend it this year. i LOVE christmas, i'm known for it, and i will have moved into my dream house by end november. ideally i wanted all the family to me but most of them are going to my aunts. i love my aunt dearly, but i don't want to have the saltiest dinner on the planet on my knee in her small house (i do this most sundays!)

i know the inlaws are coming for a champagne breakfast, and then i think me, DD, DP, DM, my cousin and her kids are going out to lunch. DP is pissed off with this as he'll be the only male. going to try and convince a male cousin or uncle to join us!

also i have to fit visiting my dad in. i'll be driving so there'll be no drinking for me in the day again this year i'm hoping to get a few people back to my lovely new home on christmas evening for an M&S buffet and loads of drink though, but failing that DP and i will put DD to bed and have the buffet, drink and christmas telly all to ourselves.

Same as we do every year...

Christmas Eve with friends. Parents pop over later on in the evening just before the children go to bed and share drinks and a little tree present (including new PJS).

Christmas morning at home, then on to my parents.

Every night over the Christmas week, we'll visit friends or have them come to see us.

One afternoon will be a trip to the panto (with my parents) followed by a family curry.

News Year Eve with friends, and another set of friends round on NY day..

Take down the tree (and collapse) on the 2nd!

Not sure about this year. I think I have posted elsewhere but basically...

...we take turns every year. Last year we saw my extended family, so this year its the turn of DH's parents. DH wants to have Christmas at our house, and invite them. BUT if MIL says no, she wants it at her place, then that's where we will be. I have always wanted to start having Christmas at ours and DH said that this is the first year we'll do it. But MIL will get her way, yet again.

Last year we saw my family on CD then thought we'd see the IL's on BD but we were told that because SIL, BIL and their kids would be there, then there would be no room for us. Yup, no room. My aunt had 23 people at her place- 20 of whom were adults. My MIL didn't want to have 10 - just 6 were adults. No room my arse. She just wanted us to say 'OK, in that case, we'll come to yours on CD instead'. Didn't happen.

So MIL is dictating this year instead. If she says no to us, that she wants it at hers, we have to stick to tradition, and go. DH says he doesn't want them to be alone. So what about what I want?

I might say that OK, go with what the Queen Bee wants- but we're having Christmas Day (minus the pressies as DS1 will not want to wait!) the day after BD. Hmph.
