Is buying a 'Lord' or 'Lady' title naff?

Just that really.

Can't decide. Think I know a couple of people who would love being called a Lord or Lady.

Would you find it naff if you were on the receiving end?

If it is an actual title bought by large bung to a political party then I would say not really naff, but unethical. If it is one of the cheap one where you buy 1 sq foot of land on someones estate and a title, then it is naff IMO

Not only naff but also pointless. It's pretty much impossible to buy a title and most websites that sell them are scams.

But the couple I'm thinking of are in their early 20's-don't know if that makes a difference.

I would absolutely hate it tbh!

Some people like it, I know someone who isn't wealthy but thinks they should be and doesnt come from a really posh family, but thinks he is really posh Grin - he'd love it

Oh Lordy! that is Extremely naff. In fact I think it's a naff title to use even if it is a proper inherited title. It should only be used by people elected or fairly appointed to a role such as the Lord Mayor of London.

I do not like inherited titles of any kind. I don't want anyone Lording over me just because they were born into a titled family.

very much so, unless the title was Lord or Lady Naff, then that is quite cool
realistically I cant see it being the start of a meteoric rise into society life either
my sister seriously consider buying a Contessa title, even she thought better of it, in the end
