Small budget this year. Need to buy for cousins children boy of 8 and girl of 6. £5 each for them. Really not sure what to get. Do you think I'd manage a top from primark and a selection box?

you may be able to pick a top up in primark, asda or tesco or what about a dvd each? asda and tesco usually have some for £3 - £5 or a book each, you can get some bargain books in the cheap book shops such as The Works

Lego Creator 3-in-1 sets start at £5 - the small ones come in a handy plastic box and each kit is designed to build 3 models. My daughter loves them

Clickified the links now. Tesco is selling most of the kits (in case you're worried about postage)

Thanks. Never thought of books. Might just do that with a selection box. Thanks again.

I just received my order, books for all the DC I know, 11 in total plus two books for DS all for £26. The books are all lovely quality and between £1 and £3 each. They have books for all ages, craft books, TV tie ins etc. Perfect for Christmas.

I second t shirts, especially if you can find out which characters they are into. Moshi monsters maybe?

CappuccinoCarrie · 07/09/2012 20:27

Do you live near a branch of Range? I get loads of presents from there (DD is 5 and at a party practically every weekend). There are wooden models to build and paint for £1.29 (there's a glittery princess castle, also helicopter and racing car), and recently I got a plant point to paint kit for about £3.99 and a decorate-your-own-jewellery-box plus there are boxes of bead kits for jewellery making.

treadonthecracks · 07/09/2012 21:13

Another though, my 6 you dd had a moshi monster annual last year - she loved it! Annuals are about £5 on amazon, if you find out what they are into, that could make a great present.

thehamburglar · 07/09/2012 21:15

Just got this for £2.25 in local Tesco:
www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-City-7741-Police-Helicopter/dp/B000T7354W/ref=sr_1_1?s=kids&ie=UTF8&qid=1347048814&sr=1-1
The on shelf price is still labelled as £9.97.

chocolatespiders · 07/09/2012 21:17

Was that today thehambulgar?

thehamburglar · 07/09/2012 21:24

Literally within the last hour! I got a space shuttle reduced from £27 to £6.50 earlier today (last one on shelf) and then I read online (HotUKDeals) that some of the smaller lego city stuff has been reduced although the price labelling on the shelf hasn't been been updated. Tesco is just round the corner from me so I nipped round to check and got a couple of the helicopters, one for DS and one for nephew's birthday.

WidowWadman · 07/09/2012 21:29

the big space shuttle? We've got the satellite launch pad for 6.50 and thought that was a great deal

WidowWadman · 07/09/2012 21:36

kaboof

captainbeefheart · 07/09/2012 21:37

Go to home bargains, I bought a couple of lovely books for £1.69. Also note books and pen sets for 99p. Really cheap toys too.

thehamburglar · 07/09/2012 21:41

I hope he doesn't come home empty handed, WidowWadman. I also heard Series 7 minifigures now selling for 49p in Tesco - ours was out of stock.

WidowWadman · 07/09/2012 21:47

that's beyond cheap!

FeersumEndjinn · 07/09/2012 21:52

tesco do surprisingly good value toys around the £5 mark - e.g. magic set, board games, jigsaw puzzles, craft things. I wouldn't go for the lego things myself as although you can get little sets for circa £5 the sets are very small with not a lot of play value - better to go for a less well-known brand and get more play for your money.

chocolatespiders · 07/09/2012 22:03

tempted to go now although not sure if my store shuts the upstairs at 10pm

WidowWadman · 07/09/2012 23:03

They were full price at ours. I even scanned to check Sad

chocolatespiders · 07/09/2012 23:20

Just got police one Smile had to hunt around though as it said out of stock on shelf but found a shelf full round the corner. Went through self scan and it took a while to come up with the price but it was £2.25. First Christmas present bought for DD she will love it - thankyou

WidowWadman · 08/09/2012 09:01

milk - Why can't the girl have proper lego too? The minifigs in the friends series are all wrong!
