When does the poncetastic start?

I'm asking because if we want to force bulbs (a la Sarah Raven) then we need to start doing it soon. I was too late/renovating my house in the run up to last year and swore this year I'd be doing it all.

I feel the need of poncetastic gurus to help me choose bulb containers etc

Why can't this be the poncetastic thread? Am I suggesting some sort of MN cardinal sin?

FellatioNelson · 22/09/2012 06:36

Yes, you are doblet. Go and stand in the corner and face the wall. Angry I will start the official one and only authentic thread on the 24th. Grin I thought it was the 25th, but you all seem to think 24th so I'm happy to go with that.

I was a bit crap last year if I'm honest as I'd only just arrived in the middle east and although I did do a lovely tree (not real, sadly) and made a reasonable fist of lunch with a frozen Butterball turkey (which I will reluctantly admit far exceeded my expectations and was delicious) I didn't make any Christmas puds or pickles or anything - I just wasn't organised enough.

However this year will be different and I will start next week.

SharonGless · 22/09/2012 06:44

Thank god you are here- we were all starting to worry.
Will check back in on Monday

FellatioNelson · 22/09/2012 06:59

'Thank God. ....we were all starting to worry'

PMSL Grin Well of course, this is life or death stuff you know.

SharonGless · 22/09/2012 07:00

Absobloodylutely -Christmas just wouldn't be the same without it

seabuckthorn · 22/09/2012 08:54

Phew! I'm so glad. Roll on Monday. Just need to deal with my snotty DC in the meantime.

Happybunny12 · 22/09/2012 09:10

Ooh this is all so exciting! Will I have time to ponce up my Christmas with a newborn I wonder? I have already started with sloe gin and blackberry brandy (DS now 6 weeks) so I reckon I can do some!

SharpObject · 22/09/2012 11:15

I know the true thread is ready and waiting but trumpton how do you force narcissii? It would make a lovely centre piece.

VoldemortsNipple · 22/09/2012 11:37

So as I've marked my place on the official poncetastic thread and doing as I am told sitting on my hands. (tongue typing) Is there a starter kit type list I can gather over the weekend as to be prepared... I've only ever gazed longingly from a distance before. I really want to Poncey McPonce this year :o

BoffinMum · 23/09/2012 21:22

Um, is this a real or a joke thread?

VoldemortsNipple · 23/09/2012 21:29

This was the lead up to the real thread which starts tomorrow :o

BoffinMum · 23/09/2012 21:56

I mean, do you chaps all actually do the poncetastic stuff or are you aving a laff?

SharpObject · 23/09/2012 22:00

Deadly serious BoffinMum

I bought a new house purely on the size of the fire place. The rest of the house is a shit tip but the mantel looks fucking great with my wicker candle lit ivy garland placed upon it.

LordFlasheart · 23/09/2012 22:20

its true. We all marinade our turkeys in buckets on the 23rd Dec and post about How they taste at 3pm on xmas day. November 12th is knit your stocking day. Youll need a high tolerance for Sarah raven and access to a fireplace if you want to play.

QuickQuickSloe · 23/09/2012 22:32

I think I may have found my spiritual home! This year is going to be a very limited budget Christmas as I have gone back to university but I think that may be part of the fun.

I have got three litres of sloe gin steeping nicely under the bed so I have am off to a good start.

I am so excited about tomorrow!

MaggotMummy · 23/09/2012 22:33

Oooh! So happy tomorrow is the day. Our goose is ordered already so we are heading towards a fine poncetastic Christmas !

BoffinMum · 23/09/2012 23:25

In that case count me in. I am thinking of buying a NEW FRONT DOOR so a poncetastic wreath can be shown off to best effect. Grin

LordFlasheart · 24/09/2012 06:38

remember to choose your paint colour to coordinate with your chosen xmas decor scheme, boffinmum. Anyway, the poncetastic is now OPEN!

BoffinMum · 25/09/2012 11:34

F and B Lichen, natch. Grin

LordFlasheart · 25/09/2012 18:19

card room green here. Its not wrong, its normal. Come to the poncetastic and obsess over things you never knew mattered

BoffinMum · 25/09/2012 22:06

Will a matching overmantel mirror to my fake Adams fireplace set off Xmas dex nicely, do you think?
