When does the poncetastic start?

WaitingForMe · 28/08/2012 08:24

I'm asking because if we want to force bulbs (a la Sarah Raven) then we need to start doing it soon. I was too late/renovating my house in the run up to last year and swore this year I'd be doing it all.

I feel the need of poncetastic gurus to help me choose bulb containers etc

There is a place near me that sells hand blown, beautiful glass baubles... so that will be my starting point.

The DC are at an age now where they wont bounce them like balls and the dogs wont be in the lounge. Fingers crossed.

My friend makes all the chutneys etc so that is covered. I dont do handmade cards so no stress there and I dont think we are hosting this year - well nobody has mentioned it so far but it is the 31 August so still time. Grin

Oh no, I didn't buy ONE decoration last year for poverty reasons, and now FREDWORMS is ruining my resolve. I need that bauble. (Only to my eyes it's an irish terrier not a lab).
I better hide this thread hadn't I...

TwllBach · 01/09/2012 14:28

I have a border collie common as muck farmers dog she will look extremely beautiful bounding in and out of snow drifts.

I am thinking about posing her in some sort of festive outfit and using the photos as cards. I need the practice for when I have DC and send everyone those cards with a faaaaahmly photo on the front Grin

WaitingForMe · 01/09/2012 14:37

I just read the top tips and clearly need a walnut cracker recipe. I'm pregnant so the Christmas cheeseboard is something I'm already dreaming about.

We have a vine and I'm wondering on how best to preserve the leaves to put the cheese on if that's even possible. Bring the plant indoors?

I am really excited for FellatioNelsons thread

TommeeTipsy · 01/09/2012 17:41

I think if I remember rightly FN has moved to Qatar as has a friend of mine. Temp in December will be about 35 degrees.

I'm planning to go to a PYO farm tomorrow to get beetroot etc for chutney making. Hopefully that is reasonably poncetastic.

pierpressure · 01/09/2012 18:52

Waitingforme I am going to put some vine leaves in the freezer in a plastic bag. ~I think if you bring the plant inside the elaves will just wither. Will let you know how iit works in December!

BiddyPop · 03/09/2012 15:32

Tommee Tipsey, beetroot chutney? Please tell us more!!

Hi all -i want to ponce! I will have a day a week when kids are at school and am not working for ponce related activities. Was thinking of doing hyacinths forced but narcissi sound more poncey so loving that idea. Do you plant the bulbs in the hurricane vases or transfer them when grown?

CiderwithBuda · 04/09/2012 17:19

Lurking too.

Have a load of plums to do something with before DH comes back tomorrow. He keeps nagging. Thinking chutney. And base for crumble. Apple tree a disappointment this year but have a couple and was thinking of making Xmas stuffing now and freezing

We are staying put for Xmas this year and I need to sort and redecorate the dining room.

Am not as poncey as some of you but I do have two labs.

LinusJ · 05/09/2012 12:55

The Poncetastic Thread is now part of my Christmas run-up - bring it on :)

TerraNotSoFirma · 05/09/2012 20:37

I am poised and ready to ponce up my Christmas, I have no Labrador but I do have a lovely German shepherd who let me put reindeer antlers on her last year to amuse the children :)

I haven't seen FN around, anyone know if she is aware her presence is required here at the end of the month?

Stitchthis · 06/09/2012 07:58

Have had my first delivery of Christmas fabric for poncey makes. Possibly a fabric wreath or Christmas bunting. I'm going vintage/stitchy/folk this year. Am already making Christmas cushions for the sofa. One done, a few more to go. Pictured here. Oooo am getting a bit excited Grin

Taffeta · 06/09/2012 20:57

I am pondering another Christmas party. We have them most years but they are usually somewhat lacking people don't get trashed enough

Usually we have DH's friends but most of them have to drive. One year we had the neighbours, which was just as well as we were snowed in, and that was surprisingly ace, lots of slurring and inappropriateness.

I mean WTF is the point of making loads of poncetastic nibbles if no one is going to eat them? They hoover it all up once they're lashed. Its a great way to eat half of the enormous Christmas cake too.

Not that a successful party is goverened in my mind by how ratarsed everyone is. Oh no.

LordFlasheart · 21/09/2012 11:49

We have no poncetastic yet?

sadface

seabuckthorn · 21/09/2012 15:42

I am sad it hasn't started too!
