Oh dear, we were going to give DD a BaB for her birthday as she'as been asking for over 2 years for one (most requests die after 6 months). So we were going to give her a "voucher" to go and build one over the holidays (her birthday is Boxing Day) - should I re-think that plan?!

I have my pudding, and my DSis took 1 bag of presents into custody. I still have to finish off 1 present and receive delivery of another for that house, but that's it there and I can get 2 sent down easily.

PIL are driving up tomorrow (they are doing "responsible adult" in the house while I travel for 3 days - DH is already overseas and its not fair on the au pair to leave her in charge overnights). But that means they will have space in their car going home to take the presents for that side. I have most bought and wrapped, 2 yet to wrap and 1 yet to buy (confirmed with MIL last night that the traditional book token for 1 uncle is still perfect even though he has just graduated with his Degree (aged 72) as he is still constantly buying books).

Meanwhile, I am struggling to shake the cold my DSis passed on so lovingly, get organised at work (loads of deadlines suddenly looming), finish tidying the house for PILs staying (eek they'll realise I am a slattern cleaning wise) and getting packed and otherwise organised for my trip....all while wanting a week asleep (DD couldn't sleep with the rain last night so I gave up at half midnight and let the (kicks like a mule) darling sleep in with me.

Biddy no it is not a bad idea, DS2 has one that he built with my sister 6 years ago and he still sleeps with it, he is now 12.

DH and I are going on our traditional ChildFree Christmas Shopping Day to try and get all the last minute bits and pieces (usually the last Friday in November)

He'll carry all the bags (I drive there, he doesn't drive) and I'll buy him lunch so he doesn't do too badly.

Then (hopefully) it'll just be the food shopping and the DC Christmas Days out to organise Grin

Christmas officially begins in our house tomorrow! Our elf along with some other bits arrive tomorrow. I'm going to try to do something Christmassy every day with dcs, I think I am more excited about the build up rather than the day itself!

70s I heard Fairtytale of New York this morning, so maybe christmas has already started?

Rabid well done for keeping this thread up, it has cheered me up so many time this year!

BiddyPop · 30/11/2012 12:09

Hi, I'm back after 3 days travelling for work, so almost hallucinating I am so tired. And the house was so full of people this morning (PIL sleeping in my bed so I had a camp bed in DD's room) that I couldn't even have a shower (or do my hair even if I had gotten in there - tools all locked in my room).

I did manage though to get a few more bits while I was away (Brussels, so different things to here). I wrapped the last 2 things for PILs house this morning and they are bringing those in their car today (or nearly all anyway - depends on what space they have left after all the shopping THEY did over the few days). I even managed to get 12 items for the "Bride's Box" for SIL's DP (I just have to type up the meanings now).

DD was in great form this morning and wanted a long chat before we surfaced. Which included a discussion on the advent calendar having to go out tonight!! And the au pair showed me (once DD was in school) an activity book she's bought for DD (either as a Christmas present or to use during December, I am not quite sure which) but that will go down VERY well.

Off to update my excel sheet now, do a bit of real work (I'd better start at some stage today), and then go home for a decent sleep tonight and welcoming DH home tomorrow (us both being away was why PIL came up - love them!!).

We have woken up to lots of snow, and it doesn't look like its stopping any time soon. DD thought it meant that Santa was here and presents were downstairs, she was very disappointed to learn otherwise Xmas Smile Xmas Smile

BiddyPop · 03/12/2012 10:42

Woo hoo!! Proper Christmassy feel now!!

I was bad yesterday though, and forgot the advent calendar activity (on only the 2nd day - oops!), but at least she had her choc!! (And DD was very excited to get a treasure hunt once I did remember was reminded by DD and then got a nice little jigsaw that took most of the wet afternoon we were around. I did remember last night, so she has a window cling of Santa to put up on her window later today!! Xmas Grin

And we got pretty much all of the shopping for presents finished yesterday too!!

Snow!! Must send on snow trousers and 1 jacket to DSis for DNiece and DNephew!! Oops.
