I do Giraffe!

It has mincemeat, Jamesons, Malibu, chocolate from hotel chocolat, green and blacks hot chocolate, marshmallows,..I'm adding a treat once a fortnight. I think a few of those popcorn pouches may have to go in too.

giraffeseatpineapples · 05/10/2013 18:57

Having said that it might be a good way of staying on the diet wagon over nov/dec if I could be disciplined; so buying things like that and saving them for the holiday instead of scoffing in the lead up ....hmmmm

Think there is a new girly disney movie coming out too!

ChestyCoffin · 05/10/2013 18:57

Hello all

Have got a good idea of what to do for the DCs for Xmas, maybe you can help me ?

Have heard and read about this new 'Hudl' from Tesco, and was thinking they would be good for them. DCs are 14 and 9, would that be a good start into the world of internet etc for them ?

Bear in mind they can use a computer, to search online etc, usual kids stuff. It's me who needs dragging into the brave new world of android and apps and all that....for example my mobile is an old Sony Eriksson, and I am using my beloved Toshiba laptop to chat to you lovelies. Blush

I am crap at the wireless stuff etc, so if I get them a Hudl each, what do I need to do re getting them connected online etc, and to ensure they don't spend tons of money downloading apps/films/music ? Do I need to contact my broadband supplier and tell them I have new things to use wirelessly ? (I told you I am crap at this).

HELP !

I am aware that there may be better tablets out there, so any recommendations if I cannot purchase 2 Hudls much appreciated. I liked the look of the Nook HD I think it is ?

I just want a decent tablet the kids can venture into the online world with, which is why I was thinking that at the price, the Hudl would be a good 'starter' ? Other than that, was looking at spending up to £200 per tablet. (Just thought, also liked the Hudl and Nook due to the micromemorycard thingamejig).

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

MrsVamos · 10/10/2013 15:30

PS May not reply immediately due to little eyes. Wink But I will be back, probably with more questions !

farrowandbawl · 10/10/2013 16:51

The hudl does look good for the money.

As long as no accounts are linked to your bank account or card details, they can't buy anything..

No, you don't need to contact anyone about the number of wireless items you have. Make sure you have unlimited broadband usage though.

The nook looks good but if you are going to go for one, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has had numerous brilliant reviews, although a bit more expensive (by about £20) but they do seem to be up there with ipad etc. I'd personally go for the Nexus, your kids will get the hang of them soon enough and I think they will outgrow the hudl too quickly.

Samsung have been really strong contenders recently againsnt apple and blackberry not just with tablets but with their phones too. So are not a brand to be sniffed at.

Personally, I tend to go for something that has already been out for a year or so (as far as tech things go) so they have already had the change to iron out all the bugs and faults in the software (the stuff that makes it all work).

(This is after installing Windoes ME on the PC when it came out and we lost EVERYTHING due to a few bugs, ever since, I now wait until they've done everything they can and just before the new version come out)

giraffeseatpineapples · 10/10/2013 16:55

Wow so behind the times dont have a clue about hudls and nooks but if it is gadgety I bet they will love it!

So this thread has got me into yankee candles again! bought a sampler of fireside which is scent of the month at clintons. Going to light it this eve!

farrowandbawl · 10/10/2013 17:04

They are just tablets. Only better priced than the Apple Hype.

I LOVE yankee candles. I've managed to bag 3 rare tarts on ebay over the past few weeks.

I tell you what has happened though...

It was my birthday last month so I ordered myself some nice new undies and a large yankee candle jar (warm woollen mittens) as the one I had was about to run out. Anyway, the candle arrived and I was really happy. A few days later I get a missed delivery card through the post...I just thought it was one of the kids jumpers I've ordered. Then I got another 2 missed delivery cards...

Went to collect the parcels, the last two cards were the jumpers but the first one was a mystery. Got it home and....IT'S ONLY ANOTHER YANKEE CANDLE LARGE JAR! They've sent me two by mistake and only charged me for the one.

farrowandbawl · 10/10/2013 18:00

Actually i've just realised...try looking at the Kindle Fire too...
