Children's battery powered ride-on cars....help please!

I know I have left this very, very late but DS would love a ride-on car thingy. I have been to have a look (lot's in stock) but the prices vary considerably.

Has anyone got any idea if a 6v will carry 2 children (it's got 2 seats!) or if a 12v battery weighs loads and if I remove it for transportation, it will make the car easier to manoeuvre.

Please help....I'm so clueless and the guy in toys r us was less than useless!

I have not bought one of these for the following reasons

You will need at least a 6v for 1 child on anything other than a flat smooth surface (so road or pavement) - so 12v for you

You will most likely need to buy a second battery as you have to charge them for hours to get 1 hour use out of them. So if you are going to have to take DC somewhere to play you might want a spare to swap over to extend play time.

However, I have looked into them and iswww.amazon.co.uk/Hummer-Style-Jeep-Battery-Powered-Ride-/dp/B000GUBHZQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1324230304&sr=8-4 this is one of the better ones!!

It says the total weight is 34kg - have no idea if that is 'heavy'!!
