I have a few boys to buy for in this age range including my own DS age 10 who wants anything and everything from Superdry for xmas apparently ! But I don't want to get him clothes for xmas, so what does everyone buy for their boys of around the same age - it sounds like I don't know him well but he has suddenly reached that age where toys are 'babyish' so besides xbox games what is there?

Please tell me everything your boys are into then I can steal some ideas from you Grin

Magnetic Dart Board

takeonboard · 04/12/2011 17:18

"Modern Warfare games" says 12yo DS, to title Q, without hesitation!
Me: "And what do they realistically hope to get?"
DS: "Socks and pajamas. They don't really hope to get that, but you know."

DS is actually getting a DSi game, chilli flavoured jelly beans, Military slipper socks Blush, chocolate, a phone swap (he'll get my nicer one, I get his brick) and probably lotsa cash.

He wants HP Death Hallows duo movies but I veto'd due to younger siblings; and Lego STar Wars sets out of my budget.

WeThreeKingsOfMardyBra · 04/12/2011 17:24

My DS wants an iphone. In his bloody dreams.

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 17:27

DS2 has IPad on his list WeThree. As if.

WeThreeKingsOfMardyBra · 04/12/2011 17:28

The irony is he doesn't even like talking to people on the phone. But an ipod touch doesn't seem to cut it!

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 17:35

Makes me laugh. DS2 (9) has 3 phone numbers on his emergency walk home from school phone, but he fancies an upgrade. Hmm

overmydeadbody · 04/12/2011 17:35

DS is getting:

A DSi and a game for it

some headphones so I don't have to hear the DSi

a puffle

lynx

what he also really wants is a nerf gun, and more club penguin memberships.

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 17:38

Everyone is going to be a 'Nerftastic' Christmas up and down the country. Grin

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 17:39

having a 'Nerftastic Christmas'.

winnybella · 04/12/2011 17:43

DS (9) wants Nintendo DS games and Star Wars Lego. I'm getting him Millenium Falcon Lego set and lots of books. He'll get loads more from his father and the rest of family.

BastardDog · 04/12/2011 18:33

My 11yo is getting an Xbox from us.

Wider family are buying him:
Xbox games
Football shirt
Shin pads
David Walliams books

LordOfTheFlies · 04/12/2011 18:42

DS (12 yo) is getting more and more difficult to buy for. Added to that his birthday is is December

He's already got DS Ninendo, Wii (that he gave to DD) and X-Box.

He's had Assassins Creed Revoloutions, Rage, (for birthday) Skyrim for Christmas.
Halo toys

Might get him a nice watch (he had one a couple of years back but he loses/breaks them so we get him those rubbery band ones now)

Clothes- not that he appreciates them unless it's a character T Shirt

Bought him some rugby boots but they are for school (so not a present in his eyes)

Shoppingveggie · 04/12/2011 18:43

My boys are 9 and 11

They are getting

xbox kinect as a joint present from us and their grandparents

The younger one is also getting Lego Harry Potter - Diagon Alley as a main present, the older one is getting xbox live, Forza 4 for the xbox, trainers (this adds up to the same amount near enough as the Lego Harry Potter)

Then other things are Diary of a Wimpey kid DVD, Ripley book, Lego Harry Potter game for the xbox, Kinect game for the xbox, PJ's, shirts, chocolates and sweets, oh and a Where's Wally puzzle, banagramas and a football memory game.

This is between us and family

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 18:44

Lord I think so too. They don't need anything. (Not because he's got everything either, he's just not fussed)

I would just love to make his eyes light up like when he was little. Sad

LordOfTheFlies · 04/12/2011 18:44

He hasn't mentioned Nerf Guns- so neither have I Xmas Grin

DS and DD are having an adventure day at an outdoor centre ( climbing, off roading sort of thing)

takeonboard · 04/12/2011 19:06

I have just tried to order the nerf fury fire set I saw on Amazon not very long ago for about £25 it isn't there any longer. There is one costing much more for sale by someone else (I have amazon prime) so don't want to buy from another seller and pay for delivery.
Does anyone know who else sells them at a good price, I am in Central/West london btw so no shortage of shops!
It is definitely looking like a nerftastic xmas on MN no wonder Amazon have sold out!
I think we are all trying to light up their eyes, just like a few years ago, its just not the same is it? Sad

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 19:08

Have you tried Argos? Or Smyths Toy Shop? Our set was £27.99 reduced from £35 so it may be the other one. It's called something 'Fire'.

tassisssss · 04/12/2011 19:23

my ds is only 8 but recent hits or on his list include
bike ramp
magnetic darts board
over door basketball thing
basketball for the bath
Guiness Book of Records
Harry Potter lego
nerf gun
tech decks and ramps

re nerf guns, ds got for his b'day, but dh reckons one is a little useless as you can't fight anyone Hmm so kids and I are getting dh one for xmas, he'll love it!

2gorgeousboys · 04/12/2011 19:40

DS1 (12 in Jan) is getting a Kindle from us) and a digital camera (from Grandma and Grandad) so far, struggling to think what else to get him.

Nerf guns haven't been mentioned and I'm keeping quiet on that front.

Finding it even harder to buy for DS2 (7.5)

Sparklingbaubles · 04/12/2011 21:21

I am getting them sledges too. I got caught out last year. Bit crap if no snow but a nice present. Grin

Alouisee · 04/12/2011 21:27

A skimboard and modern warfare 3 - that's the 14 year old.

The 13 year old doesn't know because he has a bike and a computer and a phone so money would be good Hmm

thetasigmamum · 04/12/2011 21:31

My 11 year old DS is definitely getting an eBay electric bass guitar (with amp - but the amp will be shared with his siblings), and a charity shop standard electric guitar (£15 but in perfect nick). He will also probably get a couple of shirts, some audio books (Big Finish Dr Who audios, to be precise) and a third share in some merlin and Miranda 'box sets' (not DVDs though, iTunes downloads). Not a lot to touch on Xmas morning, but it's really what he wants. If he could only have one thing it would be the audio books, probably.

Francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2011 21:38

My 9 yr old ds really, really wants a Nintendo DS, because he hasn't got any kind of electronic consoles etc.

He also would like lots of Pokemon cards.

And a helicopter.
