so i started a thread sometime ago asking what one normally forgets but i think its easier to do THE list (well try anyway) and add to it as i have definitely forgotten something. Am hoping this is the year that i don't! so, mine is something like this :-

Turkey (ordered from butchers) (got turkey foil)
b/sprouts
potatoes
parsnips
red cabbage
ingredients for gravy and bread sauce
condiments / pickles
ingredients for Xmas breakfast (here thats smoked salmon/cream cheese bagels)
ingredients for Xmas Eve dinner (JO's fish pie)
nibbles / dips
decided on no canapes as lunch is always huge
nice bread for sarnies for the evening
xmas pudding / mince pies
custard / cream / brandy sauce
xmas crackers
much wine and champers
extra butter, loo roll, mayo

OK, what have i forgotten?? Smile

Smoked salmon
Pigs in blankets
Cheese and crackers

But you have reminded me that I've forgotten the crackers!

Saltire · 02/12/2010 10:29

Just out of interest, does anyone eat the red cabbage? MIL insists on it every year but no one (including her) eats it. If she comes to us she brings it with herHmm

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 10:33

oh saltire i can't make it but i do love it!
(my one concession to getting something readymade from supermarket!)

ladybiscuit : well done - pigs in blankets are a must and how could i forget the cheese - a must for DH !!

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:28

i've just remembered i've forgotten the nuts.
you know the usual selection in the net that you only ever have at christmas for no real reason Grin ?!

soppypreggyloon · 02/12/2010 17:31

After eights!
I could always find room for them! :) mmmmm

glitterkitty · 02/12/2010 17:32

Xmas cake, choc log, trifle ingredients?

Baileys!

Mulling stuff if you like mulled wine?

We always have leftover turkey & a ham with salad xmas day evening. Prefer that to xmas lunch tbh!

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:32

soppy : have just bought a tin of quality st from sainsburys for £4 - am hoping that will do Grin

OP posts:
TheNextMrsDepp · 02/12/2010 17:34

Love the red cabbage! I do a Delia recipe, spiced, with apple, make industrial quantities and freeze it.

Tin of Quality Street?
Satsumas?

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:34

glitter : absolutely adores anything remotely xmassy but don't know why i HATE mulled wine ?!!!
DH quite happy to have it but doesn't miss it if its not on offer.
Baileys good choice but am hoping whiskey, amaretto, gin, vodka and port already in the house will keep everyone happy Wink

yes, now glitter about that xmas cake - can't be fagged to make one, quite like the Delia kit from Waitrose but have i left it too late so maybe just buy it? Confused

OP posts:
TheNextMrsDepp · 02/12/2010 17:35

Great minds think alike, OP!

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:35

as in just buy a cake from supermarket?

OP posts:
glitterkitty · 02/12/2010 17:37

Its not too late but it is a traumatic experience. Maybe best to buy unless you are a delia-like goddess who cooks in zen like calm. Grin

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:38

oooh satsumas - YES !!! thank you!!!

OP posts:
glitterkitty · 02/12/2010 17:38

Box of dates. with long plastic forky thing!

glitterkitty · 02/12/2010 17:38

Pineapple that dosent get eaten.

glitterkitty · 02/12/2010 17:38
glitterkitty · 02/12/2010 17:39

stuffing/bacon for vile turkey?

OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:40

glitter one can only aspire to "zen like calm". my idea of a calm kitchen is to tell everyone to "sod off out of it and leave me alone", use every bowl we have (leaving DH to wash them all up Grin) and swear like a trooper every 2 mins .............

so, off to Sainsburys ............

OP posts:
OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:42

so i see Wink

not a mad turkey fan myself - much prefer beef ............ fortunately butcher's turkey are giving me the stuffing too.

OP posts:
OhCobblers · 02/12/2010 17:43

another one .......... GOOSE FAT !

soppypreggyloon · 02/12/2010 17:55

livvylouis · 02/12/2010 17:57

Chestnuts

livvylouis · 02/12/2010 17:58
