Aaaarrgh! Playmobil Advent Calendar trauma!!

Oh no! Just went to set up our lovely new Playmobil Advent Calendar (which my mum bought in Germany back in October and isn't available in the UK yet!) and there are LOADS of pieces missing - literally 8 days' worth (including Day 1) plus the cardboard backdrop!

Disaster! DD has been so excited about it and has literally been counting the days til Advent Calendar Day for 2 weeks - we almost needed an advent calendar to count down to the advent calendar!

I will phone Playmobil first thing tomorrow obviously but needed to come on here and let off steam - really hope this hasn't happened to anyone else Sad. I'm hoping we can rearrange the pieces slightly, enough to fudge it for the first day or so and hope she doesn't notice absence of backdrop. Bloody well hope they can send replacement parts/ a new one immediately!

I vote for lego advents in future.

and death raying mice too

Wink
MilkNoSugarPlease · 30/11/2010 22:33

@ Jesus and James!

Tikkabillajive · 30/11/2010 22:38

If they send me a colony of elves I will send them to psychomum's house to form an army against the mice (they can borrow various weaponry from the few playmobil knights we possess). Am picturing a Nutcracker-style battle waged over the devastated Christmas decorations.

Stealth yes it was a pre-assembled one! Definitely worth opening the whole box and checking it - am sure nothing will be missing but things might have slipped into different compartments like in MilaMae's.

:o:o

dearprudence · 30/11/2010 22:49

I bought a santa's post office one for my nephews from Amazon. I hope theirs is OK, and that you get yours sorted quickly.

I have lego for DS this year but have already posted elsewhere about my disappointment that it's all ready-assembled. Putting together the older-style playmobil calendars with the individual little boxes was one of my favourite christmas activities.

stealthsquiggle · 01/12/2010 09:14

Oh bother. Well, we have 2 pre-assembled ones, with backdrops (in a plastic bag, stuck to the back of the main box, inside a cardboard sleeve) and day 1 was fine (1 pony and 1 unarmed knight). I don't have time to dissect right now so will just have to cross my fingers for tomorrow and then dissect to check the rest.

Tikkabillajive · 01/12/2010 12:05

Ugh - Playmobil in the UK are being less than helpful tbh as they say it was bought in Germany so my contract is with the German part of Playmobil - the best they can offer is to try and order the missing parts which would take at least 12 days Shock or to send me a new calendar which I would have to pay for!!! And they only have the pony farm or the unicorn one left anyway. Humph.

Have phoned the German customer service number but the person who sends out replacement parts is away until tomorrow.

Looks like I won't be getting my army of elves.

Sad

That sucks. Warn them that the outcome to their customer services will be widely reported on mumsnet and you will be let down by other's good experiences with playmobil etc.

To cheer you up go on a website called 'portable north pole' and make an email from father christmas to your dvd. Would send a link, but don't know how. google it and hope you find it. It is really good, guaranteed to make you smile!

Tikkabillajive · 01/12/2010 12:20

Thanks Thatlldo! I actually wasted about an hour on the PNP site on Sunday - it's brilliant isn't it!

It's looking more and more likely that I am going to have to hastily fashion my own diorama for the advent calendar and fill the empty boxes with random items!

OP posts:
SnowMuchToBits · 01/12/2010 12:23

Oh no, have only just found this thread and am Shock. We have the same one as MollieO, ready assembled. The backdrop and the item in the first door have been there, but I might go and check the rest now.....

I hope Playmobil manage to get the rest of the parts to you ASAP - and hopefully send you some extra Playmobil as compensation.

Tikkabillajive · 01/12/2010 12:38

Thanks SnowMuch! I was a bit shocked at the customer service this morning - I thought they would be really helpful and apologetic but she basically sounded as though she couldn't care less! Not what I expected of Playmobil!

Hope your ds and Norman are enjoying their calendar - I managed to move the angel into Box 1 so dd wasn't too upset this morning - she did look a bit crestfallen though Sad.

Off to collect ds from preschool now but will be back to moan more about them later no doubt!

SnowMuchToBits · 01/12/2010 13:17

Have just checked our box, and all parts appear to be there. Ds and Norman are enjoying it thanks, although we only have a twiggy tree so far....

I suppose there isn't much the customer services in this country can do if you bought the set in Germany, but hopefully the German ones will be able to help. I'm sure they will have the spare parts (or hopefully even a whole new calendar as they may have some in Germany, whereas they wouldn't stock that one over here), it's just a matter of getting it there quickly. If they can get it to arrive before you run out of items to put in the boxes, you might be able to salvage the situation.

SnowMuchToBits · 01/12/2010 13:22

Does your Mum live in Germany Tikkabilla? Or was she just visiting? If she lives there, maybe you could see if she could buy another one, check contents, and send it ASAP to you. You could then try to claim a refund from Playmobil in Germany for the faulty one.

stealthsquiggle · 01/12/2010 14:11

Tikkabilla what day did you pinch the angel from (i.e. what is the deadline for elf arrival)?

Day 1 went quite well in our house - DD even offered DS's knight the loan of her horse, but he complained about the lack of saddle.

SnowMuchToBits · 01/12/2010 14:17

Having opened the box to check the contents of ours, I'm now looking fprward to the arrival of the sledge and the reindeer. I think Norman may have to do a spot of sledging this year! Xmas Grin

Tikkabillajive · 01/12/2010 15:57

No fortunately my mum lives 5 mins down the road from me, she was just in Germany for work in Oct.

The angel was from day 4. Elf supposed to appear on day 13 - but we have the contents of 15 boxes at least, so should be able to string it out for a while and hope that the German customer service dept comes through for us!

I had forgot about our Plamobil Advent till I read this, so went and got it out. We had the Forest one last year and are re-using it, we also have some bits left from the Park one form the year before and use those in the scene

DS has spent ages sorting it out and says that he has Jesus's pram. Its the lady ans pram form the park set Grin

Tikkabillajive · 01/12/2010 20:51

We had the park one last year too, it is lovely - I SO wish I had put it all back in the box after Christmas instead of allowing it to be merged with the rest of the Playmobil - if I had I wouldn't be in this mess now with flipping unsatisfactory empty calendar Sad

OP posts:
ThatllDoPig · 02/12/2010 09:35

Anyone else got the pony ranch one? Can you believe the rats and piles of horse shite? Very christmassy! My dd can hardly wait to get a plasic poo lump.

Tikkabillajive · 02/12/2010 14:41

I'm still waiting to hear from Playmobil in Germany... We managed to move a small dog into today's box though and dc's still haven't noticed that the background scene is missing!

OP posts:
ThatllDoPig · 02/12/2010 15:09

I hope they get back to you very soon. Can you say 'elf'in German?!

Tikkabillajive · 02/12/2010 16:23

No! I am feeling totally shamed by my complete inability to recall any of my GCSE German, while everyone I have spoken to at Playmobil has perfect English! Will look up elf now so that I can impress them when they call me back.

OP posts:
Tikkabillajive · 02/12/2010 16:25

Oh. It's 'elf'. Hmm

Tikkabillajive · 02/12/2010 16:26

Hilarious about the festive horse manure!
