My DP is so fussy but refuses to say what he wants for xmas! Help desperately needed!!

OP posts:
ChateauRouge · 29/11/2010 14:01

Subscription to LRB
probably poetry book as well

yard of jaffa cakes would go down well too!

toddlerama · 29/11/2010 14:01

A voucher for a full body and head massage, pedicure and manicure. I have no idea whether he will let them do the manicure or not. If he does, I doubt he'll ever admit it...

GeorgeWBush · 29/11/2010 14:03

Ragwort - I've seen a yard of jaffa cakes in Tesco and Lidl.

DH is getting:

Model ship and accessories
Modern Family boxset
Aftershave
Electric Shaver
Bottle of Bacardi

whingeomatic · 29/11/2010 14:05

DH is a bit of a coffee fiend so I've bought him a new cafetiere to replace our worn out kanckered one and some rare/exotic coffee from a fancy coffee supplier in Knightsbridge (ooh, get me!)

Also got him a bottle of his fave single malt and probably a book of some sort...

Millie1 · 29/11/2010 14:12

I'm not usually this organised but have chosen a telescope for him and must order it. He has mentioned several times that he'd like one but that was months ago so hopefully it'll be a surprise. Also, if I can get my act into gear, I'm going to get bound in a nice book, e-mails from his sister and parents who all passed away not so long ago Sad. Then the kids will get him a couple of token gifts like socks so as they have something to wrap ... if I showed them the 'proper' pressies they'd spill the beans Grin

KangarooCaught · 29/11/2010 14:13

dressing gown & pj bottoms so he stops scaring the postman

noise cancelling headphones

an Xbox game, the one mentioned before, but I won't hear him playing it thanks to the above present Smile

new watch, although am grr as didn't realise you could use Tesco vouchers at Goldsmiths

a good read - he likes humour - no ideas yet

Sazisi · 29/11/2010 14:36

So far I've only got him a copy of The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists, the idea being we can take turns reading it to eachother at bedtime (does that make us sound very old?).

Not sure what else, was thinking maybe tickets for Swan Lake (although this is partly because I'd like to go Blush, I know he would like it though) Confused

I've never given him a book of love tokens, so maybe..

FluffyDonkey · 29/11/2010 14:42

Lego Grin He doesn't know but I know he'll love it (he's just bought himself me a lego advent calendar)

TeaOneSugar · 29/11/2010 14:49

So Far,

XBOX Kinect (more of a family present really)

A game for the above

Smellies

A DVD of the brave little toaster

A calendar with pictures of DD for his office.

I'll probably add a few stocking fillers.

readywithwellies · 29/11/2010 15:23

SLR camera

New coat

DS Dr Who Game

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 29/11/2010 15:26

I have no idea. Bit sad but really am stumped. Ordered some things for dd this morning and bought her a flash new guitar. So that's her taken care of but really I don't know where to start with dh (or dad or my brother...).

It's going to be a cold, cold winter by all accounts. Maybe some winter-proof clothing - not very romantic...

will hang about for ideas! Good (timely) thread

notquitenormal · 29/11/2010 15:37

A handmade guitar strap
The Pacific dvd box set
The good pub guide 2011
Pyjamas
Wine gums

coatgate · 29/11/2010 15:41

No idea. I am usually really good with presents (last year I bought him a weather vane for his new garage) but we are trying to cut back this year - so it might just bet the Top Gear Annual and a big Toblerone......

BelligerentGhoul · 29/11/2010 15:51

So far I've got him a boxed set of Hitchcock dvds.

I will also get him:

a couple of 80s indie CDs;
some books - Philip Roth probably;
a bottle of brandy;
a flask (because he wants one);
running gear;
foodie stuff in a stocking.

He also wants a belt but that is so boring that I just can't bring myself to buy it. It's his birthday in January, so I may wait until then.

manicmamma · 29/11/2010 17:52

the usual predictable pair of jammies & slippers
flight of the conchords DVD -love it!
some smellies...some foodie stuff too maybe olives and cheese..

Dexterrocks · 29/11/2010 18:56

Mine is getting a leather briefcase for his birthday (in December) and a Leadbetter golf game for the wii for his Christmas which cost an absolute fortune weeps

drowninginlaundry · 29/11/2010 21:12

He's getting a book of nap vouchers. 10 if I'm generous. Each buys him a guilt free Saturday or Sunday nap or a lie in.

In our house (3 kids under 7, two don't really do sleeping) they are worth more than all the gold in the world Grin

Guitargirl · 29/11/2010 21:15

Have seen the yard of jaffas in Tesco. Am getting DP gig tickets - I do every year - that way he gets a night out which is not too often in this house!

madSEmissy · 29/11/2010 21:17

nothing! we don't buy for one another just kiddies.
we treat ourselves to bits every now and then over the year

reddaisy · 29/11/2010 22:36

drowninginlaundry - that is my DREAM Christmas present. Do the vouchers come with conditions?

Such as sleep until 10am? Can they be used every Saturday/Sunday for five weeks runnning? You would be shattered!

reddaisy · 29/11/2010 22:38

DP and I are treating ourselves to a trip to New York next year sometime because we have both got big birthdays coming up.

Hopefully we will get the flights booked before Christmas and that is our present to each other for Christmas and our birthdays next year, so I will just do him a stocking with a guide book to NY and a CD and chocolate coins for the day so he has something to open.

becklesparkle · 30/11/2010 00:21

Ragwort, yard of Jaffa Cakes currently £2.50 at Tesco - I push the boat out me!

(sorry, is BOOkleSpookle - gone a bit festive)

becklesparkle · 30/11/2010 00:26

What a lovely idea Millie1, I'm sure he'll treasure it. I gave DH a photo album full of pics of his parents (also both passed) for one birthday and he loved it.

BeligerentGhoul, belt, fab idea! I might get DH one, boring or not - he needs a new one as his is too big since he's lost 3 stone!

waterbabyabroad · 30/11/2010 10:25

Millie1 - can you tell me which telescope you are getting? I was planning to get the same thing for my DP but haven't selected one yet. Any help gratefully received! I've also bought Leith's Meat Bible, Phantom of the Opera blu ray and Best of Matt 2011...Successful in past years were the 'I'm sorry I haven't a clue' cds from BBC radio.

winnybella · 30/11/2010 10:33

We're broke this year so I asked him for a book and I'll get him a dvd.

Kids will get more.
