I have both sides of the family here for dinner on Christmas Day and would love to give them a small 'surprise' before/during/after dinner. There is going to be 15 of us ranging in age from 21 months to 70 years old. Any ideas please???

dish up naked?

whomovedmychocolate · 19/11/2010 20:21

Previously undisclosed pregnancy is a good one.

CheesyRockChick · 19/11/2010 20:21

Great idea but not sure the PIL would be too impressed Grin

tell them you forgot to remove the giblets from the turkey before you roasted it.

jumpyjack · 19/11/2010 20:22

Do you mean food or entertainment?

We had 17 for dinner last year ranging from 2 to 82. We played Secret Santa between the main course and desert - and it was wonderful fun (small gifts, some ridiculous, some hotly contested, with the ability to 'steal' gifts off others instead of taking one from the box).

whoopee cushions

mollyroger · 19/11/2010 20:23

parboil sprouts. Diop them in melted chocolate then roll them in cocoa powder and crushed up flake. Serve as truffles - enjoy the look of surprise on their faces....Wink

Isn't this the job of a Christmas cracker?!

Sounds like you're creating a huge amount of work for yourself otherwise.

CheesyRockChick · 19/11/2010 20:26

We'll have crackers but I just wanted to do something to make them all go ooh! Preferably without any naked flesh involved Grin but I don't want to do a massive amount of work either [lazy cow emoticon]

How about a game with a prize for the winning team? You could ask everyone to think of 2 facts about themselves, one truth, one lie. Divide into teams and they each have to guess which one of each other's 'facts' are the false ones
You could have small gifts in a bag for the winners.

In order to get pudding each guest has to do a turn, they can tell a joke, sing, do an impression, juggle, whatever.

If they refuse, they get no pudding.

Indoor fireworks?

BarkisIsWilling · 19/11/2010 20:30

No turkey?

AttillaTheHan · 19/11/2010 20:30

indoor fireworks

CheesyRockChick · 19/11/2010 20:30

Like the game idea - even I could manage to pull together some shite great prizes.

Crap pass the parcel. Include such 'prizes' as a rubber glove, a clove of garlic etc. Also v shite jokes to go with the items.

CheesyRockChick · 19/11/2010 21:03

Some great ideas, thanks very much. I'm now imagining home made crackers with some interesting content. Not sure I'm brave enough to go through with some of my ideas though but just thinking of certain family members faces if I did is going to keep me smiling all weekend! Wink

in lakeland they have a pack of crackers, I cant remember how many they have in them but they all contain whistles, each play a different note and have a number on. There is also a few song sheets, the idea is that there is a conductor who reads out the music sheet (which has numbers on for the whistles) and each person has a whistle and plays when instructed by the conductor. I probably havent explained it too well but they do look fun. Also in the past I have made my own crackers from early learning centre kits. I have put miniture perfumes and aftershaves and scratchcards in them

whomovedmychocolate · 19/11/2010 21:17

There are eight and they are rubbish Dosey - we had them last year.

I snorted at "whoopie cushions?"

BarkisIsWilling · 19/11/2010 21:26

I saw those bells on Come Dine with Me - I think. Then one contestant had the others eating after eights without using their hands.

In fact perhaps you should wander over to their website for ideas, Cheesy?

tethersend · 19/11/2010 21:27

Tell them you're putting them in a home.

leesmum · 19/11/2010 21:28
