You can buy foreign newspapers and use that for wrapping, cool Chinese/ Japanese/ Arabic lettering.

Red ribbon

Lovely

Can I join in with the poncing? Last year I did red and white (paper from M and S, ribbons and trinkets from Gisela Graham, I attached dangly wooden decs to each parcel) I think I might buy everyone Very Small Presents this year and have the Cox and Cox red reindeer paper...and more GG wooden reindeers to hang on instead of bows......

My name is Bucharest and I'm a wrapping paper addict. I like wrapping Christmas presents and fannying around with them soooooo much. Grin

tassisssss · 12/10/2010 16:01

I'm thinking of getting the kids to sponge paint brown paper.

I'd say there was about a 10% chance of this actually happening.

Usually very drawn to red and gold but think i have done the silver/black/white with silver ribbon for the last 2 years...so due a change!

Did just see some lovely nativity printed kiddy wrap in a traidcraft magazine which I might get for the small people in our life.

I am looking for red stripe wrapping paper to go with some very lovely organza ribbon and candy canes attached.

I did the brown paper trick couple of years back with red gingham ribbon and luggage tags.

Last year it was vintage style wrap with dotty red ribbon.

I have seen some lovely frosted bags too that have designs on that show up very well with red tissue and green tissue.

Scrummy....

HappyMummyOfOne · 12/10/2010 18:22

I usuallt get mine from M&S as they tend to have lovely paper with matching tags, bows and ribbon.

They have some on their website already.

Tippychoocks · 12/10/2010 19:34

Brookeslay, define vintage style wrap in case I need it please?

Oxfam do some very nice plain but glam papers. Recycled but sheeny and not with patterns or Santas. I bought some last year in the January sale (oh the shame), basically my usual brown paper but with a kind of gold glimmer. Lovely.

Miasma · 12/10/2010 20:07

I usually buy the 6 sheets for a quid jobbys from stalls in the market because I like the smell of it Blush

My colours are usually red, green and gold with much robins/snowscene/holly/father christmas/chintz.

I cant imaging having a turquoise christmas.

Exogenesis · 12/10/2010 20:14

I am taking home the arabic papers from work and will be wrapping with lovely ribbon. Job done! Grin

Inspiration for colours

Tippychoocks · 12/10/2010 20:23

Oh OK thanks, I wondered did you mean that style or the victoriana or something else (vintage is such a catch-all phrase now). I like the blog (but couldn't see wrap on there? Am I being thick?). I've seen something very similar to the Boots paper, if I remember where I'll post the link. Hope it wasn't Pedlars...

Tippychoocks · 12/10/2010 20:25

Ignore me, have found the wrap on the blog. I am thick.

brookeslay · 12/10/2010 20:41

Also like using bakers twine

here

It looks great with plain paper and with the Star tags I made on Powerpoint with a cute clipart Gingerbread man.

ThighsWideShut · 12/10/2010 23:07

Think I'm going to go for post office brown paper and coloured ribbon this year. I want unusual tags thou, so any ideas gratefully received thanks!

taffetacat · 13/10/2010 11:03

DS (6) has just been asked to draw a Christmas scene which the PTA are going to send off and make into cards, wrap or tags.

Agggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh! Elegant, sophisticated plans scuppered!

Bucharest · 13/10/2010 15:54

Thighs- check out the Cox and Cox website..I'm off there in a mo to see if the 25% code is still working.

I am officially going bonkers over wrap, caught myself this morning stroking the roll of baking parchment and holding it up to the light and thinking, "now, what if....."

BatBrains · 13/10/2010 16:17

taffetacat - ds' school did this last year and we only got one pack of 10 which went to family only. Everyone else got the nice stylish cards.

i am not fussy on matching colour schemes. Tends to be patterned cute type paper for ds. But it must be in a christmassy colour (red/green/gold/white or at a push silver) and have matching ribbons and bows. it has been commented that sometimes the present looks too nice to be opened. But hey I love curling the ribbon and making it look pretty. For me christmas is the time spent baking and the christmas smells and the hours spent wrapping paper.

BatBrains · 13/10/2010 16:19

wrapping presents not paper.
*to be opened, but i dont think so. But then..

IrmaGhostSlayer · 13/10/2010 16:22

Can the Delightful Bucharest share the 25% Cox and Cox code ??

Bucharest · 13/10/2010 16:42
Grin BCW102

It was working approx 4 mins ago!
(had to have the reindeer wrap, the sticky labels , the sprinkly stars and the tealight star thingy)

Bliss.

cybbo · 13/10/2010 16:54

I'm going for vintage sheet music (easily picked up at Antiquity and collectable fairs) and hand printed raw edged black silk cream ribbon to decorate.

My labels will be antique playing cards, with names written in calligraphy with a pen left to my Great grandather by Churchill

So nothing special, really

IrmaGhostSlayer · 13/10/2010 16:57

I think you should try and make a bit of effort cybbo..

Lauriefairycake · 13/10/2010 17:36

Can't wait to use it Grin how frickin sad is that?

taffetacat · 13/10/2010 19:14
